Transfer Rumour Summer Transfer Window 2026 (17 Viewers)

You can’t go into any season in any league with just 2 strikers. Thats grade A nonsense. One injury and your in deep trouble, 2 and your screwed.

We can’t move Simms on unless we plan to bring another striker in which feels highly unlikely.

Why do people repeatedly state “x isn’t a good enough option”. We have what we have. It’s patently obvious we can’t build a squad ready to guarantee top flight safety
We have what we have but we have the ability to make moves

We wouldn't, we'd go in with 3. Wright is injured but will come back, this can happen and has happened at any point in a season.

You can have a view about priorities, for example whether keeping Ellis Simms is a better option than BTA, or the relative priority given to a LB or LW.

Or the balance between players more likely to be ready now versus long-term development projects. For example, if we need a forward was the right strategy a high potential 19 year old like Cherif or a different sort of option like Flemming or Abraham as well as Taiwo.

Or whether we should have spent less on GK to retain firepower elsewhere.

It is impossible to build a squad that’s guaranteed PL survival. Having a view as to where the weaknesses are doesn’t seem unreasonable.

It doesn’t mean those views are necessarily right, which is sort of the point of opinion.

Nor is Simms in the PL imo and at least we could recoup some money for him now before he leaves on a free next summer.
Not sure why people are so quick to write off our players.

Simms has scored a similar amount of goals in the Championship as Flemming and yet most people would consider him a v good signing.

Only issue with simms is his contract for me. If he does well, we could lose him for nothing.

If he’s staying, we need to get him a new deal imo

It would be 2 for all of Sept, October and some if not all of Nov …. Frank won’t do that nor should he

and Wright needs to be secured for the next 3 or 4 seasons. His contract is 1+1 so there needs to be a decision on him as well.

Something that could happen at any point in a season, as i say. Short sighted to keep Simms (who could be 4th choice!) when everyone is fit, when we could cash in and use it in more pressing areas.

He’ll sign a new contract if we offer one to him. That isn’t a reason to sell him, specifically given that Haji is out, Cherif is green and Awoniyi has had injuries of his own.

I’d much rather give Simms a shot and if he’s useless, we get rid. If he does well, he’s a hero.

We can’t really afford to let Simms go, can’t trust Awoniyis injury record and Cherif is a completely unknown quantity.
There are only 7 league games after Man City away through November 21.

Why bring in two guys who can't cover the position for those 7 games so much so that you have to effectively burn £10m? Especially when there was full knowledge of Wright's injury when they were brought on. Doesn't make sense.

I'd sell him in Jan if he's fit unless there's as absolute injury crisis.

He's at his peak and extending his contract by three or four years at a time when we're PL and he will be asking big wages based on that. Best bit of business for us is selling him.

Depending on what length of contract Simms wanted I'd offer him an extra couple of years, maybe 3 at a push, to secure his transfer value. Younger and can still develop with the right coaching. Plus if we did go down he'd be more than capable of leading the line whereas others would almost certainly be pushing for a transfer.

Left back is the only position we need cover. Not an upgrade. Cover. We have cover all over the pitch except there. Not saying da silva is the best LB in the world but if hes injured itll be Bidwell, who, As much as he is a grade a Pro, will get royally pumped by anyone who can walk fast
If we're bringing in a LB why bring in one who's only on a par with Dasilva? He's played well the last year or so but we all know he has limitations so why accept those limitations if you're bringing someone in? Get someone better and make Dasilva the cover.

We do still have the loans left to use so that could potentially add 4 players to the squad for a smaller outlay than a full transfer.

There is speculation that we're running out of funds, which is why the German LB fell through, but if that's the case why can't we use the loan system to bring them in but pay most of the fee later? Of course other clubs will be in the same boat as us and what funds in as well so why not have the first instalment as a 'loan fee'? We get the player without incurring the big expense straight away, selling team gets some cash. Then by Jan hopefully we'll have moved a few players on when people are back from injury, giving us a bit more money to play with and we can complete the transfer and free up the loan for the second half of the season if needed.

could add 6 to the squad

Yeah, can’t understand why they didn’t think of that. Just go and get someone better. Easy

As has been pointed out on the other thread about Ipswich/Hull's recruitment, we've essentially recruited to a similar level of Ipswich at this point. Think judging just off what we know now, you'd say they shade it because I think we've put a bit too much faith in Grimes but when you sit down and look at each sides best 11, there's not a massive gap.

If I was combining the starting 11s as they are now:

Rushworth

MvE Thomas Amenda Davis

Palacios Yirenkyi

Fatawu Enciso EMC

Awoniyi

Yirenkyi at this moment in time, if you are playing a match tomorrow is not a better option than Lukic. I would be inclined to play Diop too.

Diop was a toss up with Thomas - similar level imo. Yirenkyi is far and away more talented than Lukic and will prove himself to be considerably better than him.
