Not true though is it? He could get injured, he could run down his contract, he could lose form, that could have been his peak season.Exactly, 0 chance we don’t at least get our money back
Out of contract player….. these can be done from January prior to the new season. Not really. Brau was confirmed in May last year
I’m a bit hesitant over signing Rushworth for £15-20m. Unless he goes on to become one of the top 10 in the world then you probably don’t turn a meaningful profit. And it’s a lot of cash to sink into a goalkeeper. Not true though is it? He could get injured, he could run down his contract, he could lose form, that could have been his peak season.

For me signing Rushworth isn’t about turning a meaningful profit, it’s about keeping us in the prem and having a reliable number 1 keeper.I’m a bit hesitant over signing Rushworth for £15-20m. So could any player? Should we just not sign any players? Not true though is it? He could get injured, he could run down his contract, he could lose form, that could have been his peak season.
No, just pointing out it's not 0 chance we don't make our money back. Historic record Fees for English keepers suggests that we probably wouldn't make a profit on £20m, which would be the joint 4th highest ever fee paid for an English keeper, and one that hasn't made a single PL appearance. So could any player? Should we just not sign any players?
How?No, just pointing out it's not 0 chance we don't make our money back. Historic record Fees for English keepers suggests that we probably wouldn't make a profit on £20m.
The top 5 English goal keeper fees
1) Trafford (22) - £31m - 38 PL apps
2) Pickford (23) - £30m - 31 PL apps
3) Ramsdale (23) - £30m - 75 PL apps
4) Henderson (25) - £20m - 36 PL apps
5) Ramsdale (19) - £18m - 37 PL apps
All had PL experience.
Then drops down to £12 - Forster -
Given he will be 25 in the summer there is no precedent that he will increase his value if we paid £20m as peak values seem to be largely u23.
How?
Theres cases there of them going for £30m

How many starting ENGLISH keepers do?Not really many do. I did a post on this in November. Around half, if not more, of starting GKs in the PL cost less than £20m.
We all want to sign Rushworth, but £20m is a huge fee for a GK that's never even played in the PL.
It’s not quite as bad as when Chris Hussey was compared to him.JDS compared to Gareth Bale, we have reached the pinnacle of SBT
There's only 4 English keepers that have cosy £20m+How many starting ENGLISH keepers do?

thats no bird mateIts wet from spunk from shagging your bird
Got you, so its likely we would turn a profit on him. Thank you! There's only 4 English keepers that have cosy £20m+
Trafford
Pickford
Ramsdale - subsequently moved to Southampton at a loss (£24-30m to £15-20m)
Henderson - subsequently moved to Palace at a loss (£20m to £15m)
Only 12 clubs had a net spend of over £50m last summer. Wages need to be paid on top, previous losses covered £20m in the last financial year, probably the same this season, ground updates etc etc. I just can't see it being a lot more. I think we all want financial security for the club in the future...Have a word with yourself. Burnley spent over £111 million. Admittedly they didn't spend it wisely which is why they are now screwed but there's no chance we only spend less than half that.
For me signing Rushworth isn’t about turning a meaningful profit, it’s about keeping us in the prem and having a reliable number 1 keeper.
Is 15-20 million a lot? Of course but if we have any chance of staying in the league those are the figures we’re looking at.
You do know thats because a lot of them already had Prem ready teams?Only 12 clubs had a net spend of over £50m last summer. Wasn't it Ryan Haynes? It’s not quite as bad as when Chris Hussey was compared to him.
You though we'd drop £10m+ last summer on Charlie Hughes. Just saying...You do know thats because a lot of them already had Prem ready teams?
In the last 3 seasons every promoted team has spent above £50m except for Luton. You though we'd drop £10m+ last summer on Charlie Hughes. Just saying...
And if you want to go on about shite transfer opinions...You though we'd drop £10m+ last summer on Charlie Hughes. Just saying...

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. No fee above £20m has been paid on anyone over 25. Given Rushworth is 25 in July, his value isn't going to go up if we spend £20m on him.Got you, so its likely we would turn a profit on him. Thank you!
I bet you it would! Theres loads of examples of keepers going for over £20m when they are above 25. Petrovic moved to Bournemouth for £25m!No, that's not what I'm saying at all. In fact Aaron Ramsdale, 26 and Henderson 26, at the time of their last transfers both saw a loss on that transfer.
Not English ones.I bet you it would! Theres loads of examples of keepers going for over £20m when they are above 25. Petrovic moved to Bournemouth for £25m!

Ramsdale £30m at 23 to £15-20m at 26 years
Henderson £20m at 25 (agreed fee with forest) to £15m at 26 years
lolOnana £47.2m
They obviously dont. And you're not going to get profits unless they are playing champions league. His value may go up, but it's not guaranteed and £20m is excessively high for a keeper with no PL experience, going to to a newly promoted team.English ones have more value!
