They obviously dont. And you're not going to get profits unless they are playing champions league. His value may go up, but it's not guaranteed and £20m is excessively high for a keeper with no PL experience, going to to a newly promoted team.
It wouldn't be £20 million upfront though would it. Like all deals it would be structured based on various metrics.

Only 12 clubs had a net spend of over £50m last summer. Wages need to be paid on top, previous losses covered £20m in the last financial year, probably the same this season, ground updates etc etc. I just can't see it being a lot more. I think we all want financial security for the club in the future...
crucially how many of the other 8 teams were newly promoted? We'll spend more than 50m - or we'll end up with single figure ppoints

I think most people are talking about total spend not net. And our sales won’t be more than 20m tops.

We're a selling club at the end of the day always have been but I don't think Bidwell and Jamie Allen will make much of a dent. They might contemplate selling a Haji or a Rudi to reinvest if we got substantial offers. Cash for players has to come from somewhere.

Our signings this window are not about making a profit but staying up. We most probably won't make money on Onyeka.

I can see us paying between 12m and 15m for Rushworth if we sign him. We have a budget that has to stretch a long way. Average price of around 10m. Pay more for the GK and striker. Both very important.

Bidwell and Allen will go on frees… No way we sell Rudi. Haji if he wants to, because of the contract. More talking about the squad players knocking around that could fetch fees around 4-5m that we could raise some money from.

I'm sure they wouldn't want to sell Rudi. We'll need the squad players, probably the vast majority of them. Simms will likely leave for playing time if he has any ambition. I've said it before but we need to strengthen the spine, Keeper, CB, Onyeka and a Striker or two with a starting left back in the mix. I think that will be the priority. I think if we take the £8m for Onyeka as a marker that's the sort of ball park fee we'll be wanting to pay for players (more for a striker perhaps.) Anything above would need a seperate business case.
