I am not sure that MR ‘failed’ with Clarke-Harris. He just maybe saw him as surplus to requirements. While there is no disputing JCH’s scoring record at Bristol Rovers, his performances at Coventry were mostly underwhelming. I don’t think too many supporters were that sorry to see him go. I saw him play 4 times for Rovers last season (all against us) and he wasn’t very good in any of them. Yes, he earned a move away from Rovers, but still only to a team in the same league.
Who are the other difficult players Robins has failed with?

I'm not sure why you've quoted me as saying Robins failed with JCH. I never actually said that. Granted, I think he could've been more fluid in his approach in tailoring the system to JCH but I never said he failed him. That's an entirely different topic regardless. I recommend you read on in the thread to find out my stance on the JCH situation.

Again why are you misquoting me?

My point was, it's a myth that Robins is able to get the best out of difficult players, I've never said he failed with players. The notion that he's a miracle worker with difficult players is utter garbage though and there's little evidence to prove otherwise. I welcome you to try. For starers, we've had very few difficult players for him to deal with. I suspect Robins makes a habit out of avoiding such players as in previous conversations I've had with him he's openly discussed how his ideal players are those who listen attentively in training, work for the team and essentially are able to do as they're told without causing a fuss. Those who don't fit this bill and have had issues with their attitude/commitment have been frozen out and swiftly moved on. Hiwula, Brown and Nazon are prime examples of this.

The only example of a difficult player he got the best out of was Bright, and as I've said previously that's probably down to the fact that he let him do as he pleased whilst here on loan. If Bright had stayed on permanently he would've undoubtably been held to a much higher standard - which would've inevitably swiftly spelt the end of Bright's career at the club.

If James comes I can’t see how it possibly can god knows what we are paying Matt James

Not sure this will be influenced by Matty James move. Talk of other championship clubs so may just be we are outbid. If not Crowley think we'll be looking at another number 10. Clarke has been mentioned, but I'd be concerned at bringing in too many loans.

18k apparently but the question is still relevant.

I still see Crowley or Clarke coming in they’re different players to James who is in the Kelly mould.
Id Crowley is 12k a week, that’s just 2 tv appearances

18k is "reportedly" "according to fans" what Barnsley might have been paying.
Take this with a pinch of salt and also that this is the reason for him leaving them.......
Remember, some on here were convinced a few seasons back that Jordy Hiwula was out highest paid player on 6k PW!!!

9k is more in line with a "Barnsley" type contribution.
More in line with what our current wage ceiling might be too. Just where this additional outlay may be coming from is interesting.
A loan closer to home might pull a few strings for a discounted deal, maybe even offset with some Maddison "money" ????
Who knows.

Having researched a little on the internet it seems that Dan Crowley is undoubtedly talented. There dow=es appear to be a problem with his attitude though. These were taken from wikipedia:-

Loan spell at Barnsley cut short:-

Barnsley's manager Lee Johnson, himself an Arsenal academy graduate,[20] described him as "the most talented 18-year-old I've ever seen",[21] but also pointed out that "it's important he just gets the balance between ego and confidence"

Loan spell at Oxford cut short:-

In a 2018 interview, Crowley admitted that his inability to handle being left out of the team caused a problem: "I started to fall out with people because I wasn't playing. I was getting on the gaffer's nerves and he just said 'You have got to go'.

He made his debut in the opening game of the season, playing 69 minutes in a 2–1 loss against SBV Excelsior, and started twice more before dropping to the bench where he remained largely unused by manager Erwin van de Looi, for reasons including a change of formation and a disciplinary issue.

It's one thing having self belief and the urge to get game time, but he must have been a true PITA to cut his loan terms short.

This is a while back though and he may have matured. He also had a goalscoring problem at blues as he scored only 2 goals in 45 games, but when he was in the Dutch league he scored quite a few goals, so the potential is there.

To be honest, the fact Crowley played in the Dutch league is what I’m holding onto in all this. Quite evidently a league we have targeted; hope it happens.

Maybe we've got some appearance money for McCallum. The deal may have siiad after he plays x games in the championship but didn't mention who for.

A midfield box of Hamer - James - O'Hare - Crowley would be quality. Who's Leo Walch?

I would imagine anything like that would've been voided as part of the loan contract to us.

Don't forget Callum Wilson was sold after we'd done all of our business. Imagine there is a small amount available from that.

You never know how sneaky sneak sisu can be,

I forgot all about Wilson. I heard we had 15% of profit on him so. £17.m*.15=£2,550,000. Probably been swallowed up by BCD but you never know.

were they difficult or are you just racist?
Hiwula was bombed out of the team for not applying himself, Brown the same, Nazon was dropped for not passing to his team mates then didn't have his loan extended, the glue factory wouldn't even have Kastaneer as he doesn't have a footballers vrain.

Not everything is racist.

Didn’t Tom Davies say something like bright was in Germany when he was supposed to be in training?

Boddy has confirmed there will be outgoings as well, of 'fringe players' to lower league clubs.

Pask/Thompson, Jobello, Hilssner, Bapaga?
