Hmm, Maatsen will apparently be playing for Dortmund this season and McCallum coming back here for what, the third time as he can’t get a game at Norwich?

IF he comes back it will because Robins thinks he’s good enough So hmm that.

I think he was unfairly criticised he’s a more than capable player at this level

McCallum and Maatsen both good players in there own right, but Sam would be cheaper than Maatsen and also is more defensively sound, I think for a LWB basis I would rather McCallum and Maatsen for an attacking option

Lot of rose tinted glasses and confirmation bias in this thread. Maatsen will have a better career by far, grossly underrated by a lot on here.

He might well, but his loan spell had a touch of the Van Aanholts for us - nowhere near the finished product, obvious flaws that we'll have helped iron out for a future employer.

Don't mind Sam, but I'm afraid we've outgrown him. We want to improve on last year and he isn't the LB for us; I would be much happier if what I heard about Abdul-Rahman Baba joining on a permanent basis come to fruition.

He is under contract with Chelsea for another year or so though, so there would be a fee I guess?

I assume so, but doubt it would be an awful lot, he's never really got going with them. 27 now so does make sense, no stranger to the Championship either.

I wouldn't mind a moron in the stands if it meant one less troll on a football forum.

I think he's actually under contract until 2024 as he signed a new 3-year extension last summer.

Looking at who he's linked with it's highly unlikely he'd ever come here. I'd imagine his wage demands are far beyond what we could ever meet anyway.

Sounds like it is a team made up from the bed supplying company. Going back to the old days when teams started from companies...Singers FC

The source is normally pretty bang on with these, I think with our Chelsea link and being a more attractive footballing outfit than Reading could play to our favour.

Yeah his agent is probably in overdrive. Augsburg and PAOK have also been linked which is questionable but I wouldn't be all that surprised if he tries to push a move to Europe.

Not sure this is true. Was one of our better players first year in the champ. He’s got all the ingredients for me, strong, athletic, competitive, and a capable defender. Hamstring injury affected his progress last season, but by all accounts did well when he played.
Don’t love the idea of having him as a loan, mind.

Maatsen had massively improved over last season and I predict will keep doing so. I was at Fulham where he ripped them apart at times. Big loss to lose him and as for Mcallum as his replacement, I see this as a backward step for us and him considering he left us to enhance his career
