When Coventry City aren’t playing all the other teams should be asking “Where’s Coventry City?”

Trying to reduce time wasting by new laws like the subs only having a set time but introducing more VAR for corners

Great one FIFA!

Surely it’s all the same problem of drawing a line and determining if a player is past it?
That’s true but then I think there’d be less arguments about it being as picky as someone’s foot being bigger (wright/wan-bissaka). The perceived advantage to the attacker if his body is clearly ahead of the defender would be easier to swallow.

I don't think Wengers alteration was supposed to be less contentious or easier for the officials? Wasn't it about promoting attacking play and making the games more exciting/more goals
I think some of the argument is that this will actually hinder that, as teams will just sit tighter defensively. So instead you'll just get a load of Pep-style passing from side to side trying to break through a low block, or get the ball being hoofed from one end of the pitch to the other and midfield becomes pretty much irrelevant.

The offside one should be easy. If it looks straight away that it's offside then it is. If there's no clear infringement and you have to look in more detail then it isn't. All decisions made within 5 seconds so then VAR wouldn't be noticed in the stands like it is now.

Yes, why not set a time limit on VAR of (say) 10 seconds. If they can't call a player offside in that time it's clearly not obvious, so advantage to the attacking team.

And ban the line tool. In fact ban VAR and just give the ref 10 seconds to review at the sidelines on a replay

Why don't they address the elephant in the room, all these rugby tackles in the 6-yard box, penalty area for corners and free kicks and then the referees holding up play just to have a little word in their ear for it to continue anyway.

The referees can give penalties and it would stop it, why don't they. 🤔

Bloody common sense isn't it.

In 10 seconds you can surely see if there has been a clear and obvious error.

The system should be used for mistakes, not to get out a slide rule.

The rule about leaving the pitch thought the rule at the moment is you leave at the nearest point it never happens.
Same as retention of the ball by keepers i've yet to add a corner given.

If the goalie goes down without a clear and obvious injury a corner is given to the opposition
I like it but some injuries don’t look like it’s something serious has happened. I say this as Having stubbed my toe at the start of the week to be met with calls of pussy from both the wife and the son.

Would be music to the ears of the people who love to suggest there are refereeing conspiracies against their team (every single club has them)

The obvious solution to the problem is to stop pretending there is an easy way to judge offsides and just let the referees make their best judgements without stopping the game every few minutes.

I agree, I think this would be a good move. It should be easier to ‘mind the gap’, puts the attacking side first, and I would more happily accept an offside decision on this basis, rather than Haji’s big toe, which I don’t think I will ever get over….

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but there is talk about extending the play-off teams to 6 below the top two. Hopefully, this won't affect us yet, but if the worst happens, and we're relegated from the Prem fairly quickly, what are people's thoughts? Would it help the cause or is it simply too much?

Seems like it’s a done deal 😳

This is a brilliant reference. We watched it again last week-the wife has a habit of quoting the "do you?" line frequently in the same voice as the Itchy and Scratchy lady...
