Agree with the last bit, though that’s not a reason against doing it necessarily. Sending Plymouth up to Inverness for a fixture would be pretty entertaining anyway.

Bournemouth are the epitome of a tinpot outfit who got lucky. They'll get it wrong at some point and beback in the lower end of the Championship.
Not sure even many of their deluded support would think they're going to develop a worldwide fanbase

It’s more they develop it by association with the premier league - I agree their tinpot but currently their worldwide appeal will be bigger than the Scottish league

Unfortunately, distance aside, I think there would be too much trouble (particularly on the political front) between fans. We've already seen how it kicked off between Sunderland and Celtic a few years ago. Rangers have had some incidents in England too, smashing places up, etc. Loyalist supporters would probably join forces or something.

Not relevant to the title of the thread at all but I'm in favour of more leagues merging to keep the quality higher and get more eyes on them. Really wanted that Dutch/Belgian league merger to go through.

Don't tell that to Celtic fans in terms of being delusional. Their supporters often wrongly boast about how they could compete in the PL when they're on a little run of form, and yet didn't they recently lose to a club I've never even heard of in the CL? More confused than Rangers...

Let’s be honest, Celtic in the top flight would be a far bigger ‘brand’ than Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham or any of the other clubs I forget are top flight clubs. Same for Rangers.

All the Welsh clubs in the pyramid have played in it since their inception, though. The Welsh league is comparatively new, and for years all Welsh clubs played in the English league system.
I would not want the two big Glasgow clubs in English football; they come with too much baggage.

Lived in Scotland for nearly a decade and my wife is Scottish also. Formerly an Aberdeen fan so we often watched them when they played in Dundee.
Some of the worst football I have ever seen, at least professional. Then some friends of mine who supported Dunfermline invited me to some of their games and it was a whole other level of shite. Great stadium food though, they do that better than we do.

They should be respected for their history and also worth bearing in mind if they ever got invited to English leagues they would challenge at the top

history should be respected - but ultimately the last time both sides were relevant on the world stage barring 1 or 2 runs was 20 years ago.
there’s a generation of players who won’t recognise the standard of Scottish football and ultimately won’t care about their history. Celtics big moment was 60 years ago.
I’m not saying they wouldn’t be a good premier league side. But they’d struggle to break into the elite 6 clubs. Once European football becomes difficult to obtain it’ll come down to them over paying has been players, as the good ones will swerve them for the same money in better locations that Glasgow
At the moment they’re both stepping stones for the premier league. In fact - take Lampards situation. 20 years ago he jumps at the chance to go to rangers… now he prefers the bright lights of Coventry

Rangers and celtic are big clubs , but their history is littered with uncompetitive trophy wins , nobody gets excited about winning the scottish premier league in the same way nobody gets excited about malmo winning the swedish title , nobody gives a fuck in reality its a shit league

Isn’t there an issue with UEFA and the leagues merging? I swear they got a bit jittery when we did team GB football in 2012 and that’s why it was just a one off.

There was talk of merging the Dutch and Belgian leagues a few years ago to make a super league of sorts to help them compete.
Would be dead set against either Rangers or Celtic ever being allowed into any English division for plenty of reasons.
Firstly it would inevitably bring with it all the sectarian shite that follows both clubs to England and no doubt the violence that accompanies it. Seem to remember it was not that long ago that one of them played in Manchester and virtually trashed the place. Think every Police Chief up and down the country would object to it too.
Secondly for them to be accomedated in any division it would require two English teams to be relegated through no fault of their own, sell that one to the effected teams fans. Just imagine if Coventry were denied a place in the Premier League just so Rangers and Celtic could be slotted in!!
Thirdly could you imagine the response from Scottish fans and the SFA if the SPL were the same cash cow as the Premier League is and Arsenal and Spurs wanted to join? They would soon get told to f**k off, as we all know.
If I am utterly honest I do not care about Scottish Football, the SFA has had plenty of time to sort things out and make the SPL a more competitive league, they have consistantly failed to do so, I think before he became Coventry Manager Steven Pressley proposed some quite significant changes that were promptly ignored due the old guard at the SFA not wanting to give up any control.

Bournemouth are competing with PL income streams. Dorking Utd could compete in the PL with that level of income.
Put Celtic in L2 and Falkirk in the PL and Falkirk will be a bigger club in a decade.

And thats a massive part of the history of the city.
