You are absolutely right - there is not a chance in hell of Warwickshire County Council or more importantly any of the District Councils in Warwickshire (as they are the planning authorities) ever granting planning permission for a ground - never, ever, ever!! Feck me they object to most back extensions never mind a feckin stadium!! Muppets!!

I'd be happy to have a new smaller stadium. Biggest mistake we made was moving to the Ricoh. It's pretty clear it's been a financial drain on them all these years.. where and how though is a different matter..

Spending £30m to have lower attendances seems like a fine idea.

Look at the alternative though. Keep pumping money into something we see no return on? At least the first cost of 30 million will eventually get recovered from games, food, shop and other things it could host - small gigs etc. Not every event is big enough for the Ricoh. A smaller stadium could be the answer for them. The best thing is the money would stay within the same organisation.

People are kind of missing the point. All SISU would have to do is move just outside the city boundary and they would not have to put plans before the city council. 200 yards north of the ricoh you are in a different local authority, you could build one at Warwick Uni and still be in the Coventry urban area but technically outside the city. You could build an access road from the A46 to Brandon Stadium and CCC could do feck all about it.

In that sense it is feasible, and there is no issue with raising the money I suspect. It isn't quite as pie in the sky as it seems. It almost certainly won't happen I know, but it could happen if SISU decided they wanted it to, the only issue would be nimby opposition, so the whole project could take years. For that reason it is probably silly talk, because no way the club could survive playing at Hinckley or Rushden for that length of time.

SISU have no intention of spending that kind of money on a football club FFS, they refuse to pay anything more than the basic £10K MATCH FEE. When are people going to wise up to the fact that they are purely bullies who are out of their depth in running a football club. They are a disaster in every sense at this game. All this bullshit is to deflect attention from any part they have played in MR's departure.

They've spent a fair bit on playing staff, just short of what they are allowed to.

Have they, how are you privy to that information? They have supported Robins with some loan players and free transfers, he actually got something out of them, how much is any ones guess ?!

There are lots of 'silly little men' on this thread, however Ashdown1 certainly isn't one of them.

The majority of players we have signed this season have been of a good standard, I've never brought this 'bargain in' nonsense, because it's not true, compare any team to CCFC, and we have a team that is just as good as it, we've beaten the top 3. Credit to the board, they've back our managers this year as well as any team in the division.

We spent money on Barton, signing fees for the other 16-17 players, easy to forget this.

Even if fans think the players are shit, the players the management sign are accountable to the manager, not the board, they just let the management get their man, unless you're Abramovic.

Bare with me on this..If a half share in the Ricoh is (Allegedly) £10m.......Is that a FULL half share in the stadium, or a half share in ACL?
Now, if it's a half share in ACL..that would be a quarter share would it not?...Right...why don't SISU find another £10m on top of what they're prepared to pay for a new stadium(£30m) and buy the whole Ricoh.

I agree Taylor, Robins brought some good signings in and got them playing as a team, how much they cost though in fees or wages is any ones guess though. Don't forget we got McGoldrick for next to nothing as well.

Mr Fisher, count me out on the ridiculous notion that you would build a stadium in South Warwickshire. You are a bit of a nob if you think you would take large crowds with you.

Grow up.

Remember, there are FFP rules to contend with, we can't spend willy nilly or we'll be placed in an embargo, and potentially worse e.g. Swindon, who got lucky.

It would've been interesting to see who MR would've brought in this summer, but we don't, so he's had to work within limits because AT would've spent a large bulk of the amount we're allowed, with wages, signing on fees, agent fees, loan fees etc. etc.

What's the obsession with the fact our team was free? What difference does it make? Are they a good team or not? Have they gone from the relegation zone to touching distance of the play offs via record away wins and a semi final in front of a record crowd or not? A good team is a good team, you don't need to look at the price tag.

SBT when looking at next year FFP you have to build in a couple of things extra into the equation assuming we are still in L1

- the %age of turnover is lower
- turnover is likley to be lower
- unlikely to have large value sales in the summer ala Keogh and Bigirimana
- we have a number of expensive (relative to L1) players on long term contracts that will seriously eat into any budget
- a number of the younger players will no longer be exempt from the calculation

Going to be interesting to see how they juggle the figures

Exactly. Poor defenceless Sisu.....playing the victim.
People seem to forget that Sisu are unidentifiable.
They could be arms traders or sellers of horsemeat for all anybody knows.
And yet there are people who think we should support them over unpaid rent to the detriment of the citizens of Cov and a democratically elected Council.
You've gotta laugh.ointlaugh:

If they build a new one can they make note of the following points:

1) Have the stands closer to the pitch for a better atmosphere
2) Have a lower roof for better atmosphere
3) Lower the capacity for better atmosphere
4) Make the away stand in one of the corners rather than behind the goal
5) Make it with the same style of seats and leg room at Stadium:MK
6) Have a viewing balcony from the kiosk similar to Stadium:MK
7) Would we be able to pick up and relocate the JH statue?
8) Build it near to a train station

Just some ideas.

Joy pressing the flesh of the Cov faithful. I'd love to see it....but it'll never happen.
Jimmy Hill used to organise "crisp and pop days" for the kids......but then he was a master at how to play the media....particularly in respect of community and widening the fan base.:claping hands:
Seppala wouldn't have a clue.

We've already done the math on this one. It would cost more in interest payments on the loan than they're prepared to pay in rent. Ludicrous.

Air-Horn Joe is already up in arms about HS2. Wait 'til he hears he's got SISU's South Stand in his fish pond!

How and why?
We have a decent stadium, des not make sense at all. Just pay the 1.3 million and carry on playing. Or pay 30 million for another out in the sticks arena.
Where will we play while its being built?

It would take 6 months to design, same again for land acquisition and planning and a further year at least to build...............and where exactly ?? Its an utterly embarrassing stunt from a desperate organisation who are hell bent on prolonging the joke status they are embellishing on our football club. They could have paid the rent on the lower agreement of £400k on the unbudgeted revenue we received from Arsenal and Spurs alone !!.......they are playing high stakes games to the detriment of the football club. They came to Coventry in 2007 with the goal of acquiring and profiting from a large slice of CV6 and leaving with a fistful of cash, they've failed and cannot accept it !

So two years to build and you have to now allow for inflation too. 32m would now surely be around 40m.

And of course there's no such thing as inflation.

The whole idea that SISU are going to spend 30m on a new stadium is hilarious. Why didn't they buy The Ricoh?
