I can see a logic where this works for home games but it's still a pointless exercise. For a few reasons:
1. For most away games, STHs will get tickets for away games
2. It creates more work for the club because they need to investigate claims where people have 'scanned' the ticket but the points haven't come through
3. It defeats the point of buying a ST if you don't get 230 points for purchasing it
4. Away games, this is even more complex and other teams will not allocate resource to investigate which of fans physically scanned their ticket or not

On point number 2 and 4, there's been numerous issues this season with England tickets not being allocated in a timely manner so imagine this would cause an absolute headache for the club on a weekly basis. By contrast, it's about 12-15 games a season for England with weeks and months to resolve these issues between games.

Ultimately, it's just not a practical or desirable outcome for club or fans fixing something that is a complete non-issue. It isn't worth the hassle over a 50 game season.

To implement anything effective for away games you need all grounds to use the same entry system. You'd then have to have tickets tied to a CCFC app with a barcode that updates every few seconds.

Even then you would still have issues if people were happy to lend someone their login or actual phone.

As with all these things you've got to balance how big the problem is with how much time, money and effort you put in to solving it.

Essentially you're relying on people not being dicks which given we had half the ground going in as kids seems unlikely.

The problem isn't even that widespread. In all the aways I've bought tickets for over the last 2 seasons, there's been 2 instances where I didn't go; Huddersfield away in 23/24 because traffic was horrendous and was going to miss the first half and Sheff U where, admittedly, I was points farming and sold it with no intention of going because I was away on holiday.

No one is spending close to £700 a season on tickets to either not go, or sell them on every game. Some people will occasionally buy a ticket for a friend or buy a cheap ticket and not/can't go but as @Skybluecol points out, most away games go to general sale so it's people making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Derby-Oxford-Leicester will naturally be oversubscribed but these threads and complaints will be comatose until Wrexham away and then Blues away in Jan. All the away games in between won't sell out before general sale or just before.

This is the issue in a nutshell really. I can't travel hours on a Saturday for games so I'm never going to go to the majority of away games.

The only ones I have a vague chance of being able to attend are the likes of Derby, Oxford or Leicester but I'm perfectly happy to accept that I have very little chance of getting a ticket for those games, its absolutely fair that people that go week in week out get priority.

Are there really that many, or any, games that require the absolute maximum number of points you can possibly have to be in with a chance of getting a ticket?

Suspect its more a case of people not being able to go and passing tickets on rather than deliberate points farming or people getting an occasional ticket for a mate but the percentage must be miniscule and not really worth worrying about.

Plus there's always seems to be last minute tickets from people unable to attend so if you're desperate to go to a game there's pretty much always a way.

Ticket sorted, 2 days off work booked, now for the train. This is a lot of effort for some points farming.

When the draw was made I wasn't going to bother, but £25 all in for tickets for the both of us, parking a fiver at Old Kent Road Asda and a bit of petrol makes it worthwhile. Booked one day off and "working from home" the next day so don't need to book that off.

Could have got ticket just for the points, but feels a bit naff to do so, as had no intention yo go. Will be interesting to see how many travel. If 1500 turn up, it's a good effort ( as for those who bought just for the points - who am I to judge.....🙄)

Obviously more than 1500 will turn up with over 3,000 tickets sold 🤣🤣

For what its worth , when my tickets arrive il probably be looking to give them to somebody I know for free .. i just couldn't pass up on those points

This - whole thing is totally over blown.

Rears head when as above, those games with limited allocation or big match mean people miss out, essentially it’s people moaning because they have missed out and want things changed to suit them.

system on whole is pretty fair.

This points system is daft. 10 pts per away game/ cup games is the easiest option. That way people are unlikely to ‘mine’ points.

12 quid for the equivalent of three matches is worth doing for some.

Next round Barnsley, Bristol or Blackburn away. 3k to 7k tickets..

The points system for the most part is absolutely fantastic .

But id agree to an extent , if the tickets are as cheap as millwall maybe 20 points would have sufficed .

As pointed out nobody will moan about the points system when we play millwall or Middlesborough away midweek in the league

Guessing they also own the Asda Whitechapel Road car park too then.
