Transfer Rumour Melvin Bard - Left Back

I seem to remember that 5-3-2 stinking up the gaff, or is my memory playing tricks on me?
Dunno about all this talk of 5 ATB and wing-backs.
Have we spent £20m on Tchaouna to be a situational player/impact sub?
If we went to the formation of the 1st playoff season (box) then Tchaouna is the odd one out. Gus, EMC, Rudi, Tats, Caleb and Torp I can all see being used there depending on what we need. Loum looks like a pure winger.

I think ultimately while it would be unfortunate, you’ve got to play the football which gives you the best chance of winning.

If that’s a 5-3-2 and Loum plays mostly off the bench, I think so be it personally

He’s played striker and AM before, but also you can play wingers with 3ATB with a 343/541

Getting Bard and Mfuni in and Bidwell / Kitching out (even on loan) would make us stronger, measure for measure. Judging by YT highlights, Bard has a cultured left foot and is strong in the tackle.
The final day of the transfer window could be a tempest in terms of offloading several more in a race against the clock.

Same here, not only Tchaouna but EMC as well. Early on, but he struggled on the right as a winger when he was first here. He's the best attacking player at the moment so don't like the idea of shifting him centrally. Would love to see it, but don't think it would work.

Keep the 4231 or 433 whatever it is for the moment. Just flatten the midfield out of possession to 451. Think that gets you close to 5ATB without sacrificing the wingers.

Whatever system we choose we need mobility in the middle of the park.

The question is , what will be our midfield

Box midfield like the Robins days for me

Onyeka Yirenkyi
Rudoni Hamer
Awoniyi

And I say this as someone who isnt keen on Hamer, but get him fit and he'll be good in the position

Or you can play

Onyeka Grimes
Yirenkyi Rudoni

I've just spoken to a French journalist who has covered Nice. The full story is up on The Phoenix now right here: 'A good defender but he struggles offensively': The lowdown on Melvin Bard

However, the gist of it - his thoughts were that despite Bard paying LWB and LM, he was much more suited to LB and he would even take him as CB rather than a wing back. He cited his poor assists record (1 last season, 4 in 89 appearances) as proof that he really isn't very good going forward.

Nice were a terrible team last year so is his stats a victim of this or part of the reason?

If Kitch and Lati are leaving we are not playing 5 at the back

Why not?

Mfuni and (unfortunately) Woolfenden in reserve

We wont play 4 at the back when weve just brought in Mfuni and Pinnock. We could. But I bet we wont

Yeah the reaction from Nice fans on social media is that it's time for him to go and they're looking forward to getting in someone who can actually attack. Lines up fairly well.

Someone else links us to Nkounkou, as well as Bard. But say Nice are also in for Nkounkou, but can only sign him if they offload Bard. Deadline day madness ahead.

Doubt we were even in for him. Not mentioned once in the L’Equipe article.

We've clearly shown an interest in him at some stage as the original journalist is very credible.

Nice fans didn’t seem to rate him so I’m not that concerned. Mfuni can compete with Jay.

I’m more concerned about our lack of Right back and left wing cover.

I know wright and Cherif can play wide left but they can’t play centre forward at the same time.

Then there is the lack of an established CM.
