Coventry have positioned themselves for Melvin Bard at the end of this transfer window. Another club is also on the lookout.

Guy seems to have a fair few followers and looks quite reliable.

Obligitary highlights reel

@junglej13 spotted this and mentioned him previously.

He’s a reliable journo

If true - and if we sign him - it presumably means that we see Mfuni primarily as a CB rather than a LB. I’m happy with that 👍

If it happens, it makes sense for the rumoured loan of Kitching to the Blades to go through.

Looks the part and would make sense if we’re going 5ATB.

Said at the time he will be a CB. I’d be surprised if they would bring in an 18 year old then chuck him in out of position.

This is from two years ago:

Obviously, for whatever reason, it didn’t go through but it is encouraging that big PL clubs have shown interest.

The question is , what will be our midfield

Think you go 532 against most and 541 against teams were scared of. Box or a flat 4 depending on the threat. We can play any of those. Assuming Cherif gets in the team I can see him and Awoniyi up front like an upgraded Simms and BTA from Lampards first season.

Midfield if he can be got fit for me is Hamer Onyeka and Yirenkyi. Without Hamer maybe Rudi but I’d worry he’s not got the passing range the other two lack.

Otherwise wingers with Onyeka and Yirenkyi or Hamer and Rudoni in the box.

He can play LCB and LB:

I’m sure that, if we don’t sign a LB, we will see him play there.

I reckon we will play 343 / 523 peronally , with EMC and tchaouna on each side , with MVE and this lad as wing backs

Leaving a midfield central 2

I seem to remember that 5-3-2 stinking up the gaff, or is my memory playing tricks on me?

Probably much ado about nothing, we often get linked to players just before the end of the window but don't get them.

Just worry that gets overrun but maybe, especially if it’s more 541 than 343

Will be interesting. If we play with 3 centre backs it makes no sense to keep Grimes playing in his deep lying quarter back role. As he is FL's captain would he nevertheless keep his place in the team but played a bit further forward than he does at present, or left out?

It worked the year we got to the play off final because Vik was basically a 1 man attack. The following year our season didn’t get going until we swapped to a 4231. Think it would be worth another look in the prem though.

Looks quite attacking to me.

If we get him in and can offload Bidwell (who has been a good player for us but is past his best), all's well that ends well in terms of left sided options.
