It's not just fitness that's the issue here. Many of these free agents won't have played since the summer - some for longer. Match sharpness is another issue that also could pose a problem and isn't as easy to improve in terms of time as fitness is.

I agree. But don't think it's such an issue with an impact player.
Bringing in a free agent to play elsewhere isn't probably worth it as they won't be up to speed until mid Feb earliest.
I don't think they'll be a lot of business done across the board this January.
I'm sure most clubs didn't budget for BCDs or 2k fans max post Christmas.

I think it's one of those that you'd have to wait and see. The importance of match sharpness, even for 'impact players', is vital and really shouldn't be understated in my view.

I think January will be a quiet window for most.

How would it be a massive blunder by the club? The club are broke and they can't do anything to change that. Their hands are essentially tied. It's far easier said than done to move on players that no one wants - probably bar Allen. Posters have said this numerous times already on this thread. The only way I can foresee us receiving an injection of cash to be used in the transfer window is if SISU pump funds in - and I'm far from confident that this will happen as they're already going to be topping up the coffers again this season.

I half agree with your last sentence. From the outside looking in, it would be incredibly short sighted by SISU if they outright refused to support Robins in the window - but really it entirely depends on what their own personal situation is and the situation of their investors.

It would be a blunder not to ship out some of the ineffective players in our squad and replace them with better quality. It might be we ship 2 useless players out to bring in 1 decent one. Or Sisu sanction some loan signings.

The problem is getting better quality in, as who is going to want to let them go, with squads being stretched with injuries? Will only ever be PL loanees and the competition for them will be fierce (£££s)

Kasta Baka & Jobello are offering nothing for us anyway if we could move those 3 on would be a good start

I'd prefer to promote a youth team player than have them lads stealing a living

If there was someone, do you not think they'd have been promoted to the squad already

Again, why would it be a blunder? I feel like you're missing the point here. Baring in mind we're navigating through one of the worst crises football (never mind the world) has ever had to deal with since the war, attempting to find clubs for players who were barely up to the standard in League One is far easier said than done. Clubs will be running on fumes and are going to be far less willing to take risks on players. So, why would a club want our 'useless' players if they're not going to benefit their squad?

Likewise a player will be reluctant to leave the perceived security of a championship club even if there is first team football on offer. These people live in a dream world.

Two of the so-called useless players Baka and Kasteneer have been in first team use recently so getting rid is okay IF they are replaced it’s nine substitutes now so unless they are replaced we will need them, there’s going to be more and more changes in our squad as the season progressed.

I'd take him back. Good record since he left.
Robins didn't really play him when he was here though, so don't think either would be willing to make that move.

MacAnthony would've inevitably already valued him at some inconceivable price.

I think Premier league Loan would be the only viable option. Because Robins has a good track record of improving loan players. We would just have to hope that one of the big teams dont mind paying a fair wedge of their wage.

Kasta went in the last window but was sent back as faulty goods
Suspect he'll go out somewhere again next month
Let's hope it works out better for all concerned this time

Agreed. I’d look to get an AM/ST in on loan, it’s the sort of position you can find a diamond in the rough to give you something different going forward.

Interesting, I didn't know he actually was off.
What do you mean by faulty goods? Did he fail a medical?

Haven't heard of any problems with the medical
Probably more about how he looked in training and practice games
A bit like Bright at Peterborough recently

Have also thought about Keinan Davis before (not in that way!). From what I’ve seen, his strength and link up play is very good, though he is making the match day squad most of the time at Villa.

Couldn’t score in a brothel that bloke, might as well have Baka up front if you want someone to stand there and not bang any in

I think much depends on the premier league. Should Declan Rice sign for Chelsea for silly money etc. I can see there being a trickle down effect. Also the last window stock markets were on their knees and billionaire owners would have been affected. The picture is not amazing but improved and may mean some will spend.

It’s down to our affordability which is little or none, should Marosi get fit to play it will probably mean Lee Clamp will be off so perhaps there’s wages there that could be used other than that it will depend on some going out first.

For me we need -

Cover at CDM & a creative AM player O’Hare is struggling to be that link at times more often than not.

I would expect that the management will risk assess the threat of relegation and may decide to hold any transfers until the summer and reevaluate then. I believe that would be the sensible thing to do until we know if the Covid situation is resolved and income streams are revived.
If the threat of relegation is real then I would expect that the loan market would be trawled with Giles returned to Wolves to free up a space and if Sam is recalled by Norwich then keep Giles and find a link between midfield and the striker with the bulk of the wages paid for by the loaning club.

I’d be surprised if anything happened, we’re more likely to see incomings once the out of contract players are released in the summer.
