Would you want him here beyond the end of the season? I wouldn’t. He has a few plus-points but I feel this would have worked better as a loan if possible, otherwise we’d be upgrading our 3rd best striker without good reason.

Yeah ideally you’d say come here until the summer and prove yourself/put yourself in the shop window. I think you’re right we’d probably need better for the target man type striker, but we’d also need two so maybe he’d be a better 4th striker than Max?

I’d expect he would be better as 4th choice than Max. I’d also expect he’d be more expensive wage-wise. Plus, would he want to come to be 3rd/4th choice? I doubt it. Overall, I’d rather stick with what we’ve got and look at other options that would pose a challenge to Godden (even if we had to wait until summer for this one). Short-term loan will do as a quick fix until then.

Wolves have recalled a few loan players today. Wonder if Giles will be called back as he isn’t playing enough?

Wouldn’t be surprised second time he’s hardly played here

1362 minutes, just 3 less than McCallum.
"Hardly played"

First time he didn’t get a look in and he’s clearly been bombed I won’t be shocked to see him go back and move elsewhere

He's played in both the last 2 matches, strange definition of "bombed".

It might have been the accent that fooled him?

This is who I'd go for. The amount of crosses we put in I think he would thrive on. On a free transfer and wouldn't be too expensive wage wise. Could do with someone like him with a bit of height and presence (I know Baka is also 6'4" but I don't think he plays like he's that tall).

Troy Deeney looks like he's leaving Watford. He's a Brummie and experienced and would be good for a season or two. But a bit injury prone and would be on a decent wage no doubt. Just thought I'd throw his name in !

The same Troy Deeney who Tottenham enquired about in the summer ?

I'd guess Deeney is on £100k a week. If we sign him for 3 weeks that's a £300k punt that could keep us up!

I was messing about I just thought I'd stick his name in. We could do with an experienced striker though, but within our budget.

We would be stupid not to go for Crowley. Davis and Mceachran are not better than what we have.

This is the sort of signing where he will either step up comfortably or flop massively, no in between. Kind of like Omar Bogle.

Yep. Couldn't get into Doncaster's team last year so definitely a gamble, but £1m to the.likes of Cardiff is nothing. Would've been a major transfer for us at that kind of price.

Norwich are on the verge of signing a Greek international left back.

Don’t think Sam is going to have much of a future at Norwich. Way down the pecking order now.

Imagine being able to spend >£3m on a development player who it seems might not even get into their team. They really are in a different league to us financially.

He would have been with Norwich for 18 months of his contract after we sold him but in fact never left us. Could be a scenario with forfeit remaining transfer fees and he stays with us permanently.

Sam's not 21 until September. Got a good career ahead of him and I don't think Norwich give up on that.

My blues supporting mate has just text to say Crowley is heading to us, can't see anything more concrete on it, all the news is linking him to Hull.

They've just released Davis, so presume their more concerned with cutting the wage bill. His deal is up in the summer, albeit they have an option for a further year but hopefully they just want him out of the door.

He has been de-registered so I’d assume no fee and he wouldn’t be a loan which fits us at the moment.
