I never said anything about Syria, my question was what is so bad about mainland Europe that they choose to put their own life in danger to make the crossing to the UK.

Apparently it is not unusual to have people sneaking in on boats anyway. Nothing new. There have been more in past years, but, it is being made into a crisis although the numbers are insignificant.

Why? It seems to be a distraction.

In which case, slur away!

Leftie = snowflake, apparently.

Surely the problem isn't whether you are right or left, the problem is only when you are far right or far left.

The problem is if you are a c**t. It’s as simple as that.

I’ve got right wing and left wing mates and essentially it’s all nonsense.

They aren't illegal until deemed illegal. Until then they get food, shelter, medical treatment, legal representation, education for their kids.

But Syria is an example of a situation they're fleeing
Some are then trying to make it to the UK, not actually many.
And as far as im concerned we have a duty to do as we interfered in the affairs of a sovereign state and went as far as backing ISIS affiliates.

That is something I do agree with to a degree, I don't think we should be getting involved into other countries issues. I also think we should be funding refugee camps in neighbouring countries, so they have a safe destination and so they don't have to travel to western Europe.

I was there, Coventry University Hospital, early hours of 28.12 . A&E. There were lots of immigrants and people of immigrant descent. They were the staff. Some spoke with accents. My mother was treated really well and I would hate to see how it would work, ( it wouldn’t), if you removed all staff of migrant descent or migrants. All those people were legal and paying tax into the pot. Without them the pot would be smaller.

I think you're confusing migrants with illegal immigrants. I doubt the staff at hospitals came across the channel in a dingy, and I doubt anyone with half a brain would think the same. They're legal. The issue is the illegals.

You do understand that the minute an illegal immigrant makes their presence known to the U.K. authorities they are detained then extradited. They don’t get benefits, they don’t get given a free house that has an 18 plate car sat in the garage, they don’t get a daily delivery of the latest TV.

How is that going to facilitate wholesale change in the U.K. sovereign law that means illegal immigrants receive benefits, free houses, 18 plate cars ect ect.

There seems to be either a very basic fact of British law that you’re unable to grasp or you assume that anyone driving a 18 plate car is an illegal immigrant for some completely illogical reason.

No, I am not. I was replying to: What ??? We all pay tax and it all goes too a big pot that gets spread around yeah ? Now their would be a lot more to spread around without Lefties like you. Hospitals rammed, Gps rammed etc...........Next time you happen to visit notice how many non English languages you here.

Nothing there about illegals. I had to visit Coventry Hospital A and E as it happened, and noticed that many migrants were there.... but they were working..not only patients. Most patients were white U.K..

Your issue is about 200 plus illegals in the last couple of weeks. Which is not a major crisis and apparently not particularly unusual. The concern is that they are being told that the borders will be closed after Brexit and they should leave France now as there are less patrols around this time of year because of holidays. The French are clearing makeshift camps which adds to the fears they may have. It is suspected that organised bands are cashing in and spreading these rumours. The U.K. is working together with France to combat the problem. The French complained that the British had only one boat patrolling.

Yes, but we have a legal system in the UK ( I live in Germany, but we are talking about the UK ). People have rights, even the most disgusting criminals, and also people who try and claim entry to the UK. We are not going to starve them and leave them in a field, and hopefully we are not going to drop basic human rights to save money. When they have had any claims assessed and rejected then they should be deported ASAP if legally possible. It’s amazing that we are now talking about costs as opposed to a legal process.

Do you ever think about the comments you make before you press the send button?

They have travelled from France. They have no need to risk their lives to get to freedom. They are economic migrants. They have travelled through several countries that are safe before getting into that unsafe dinghy.

You preach to us how good the EU is. You preach to us how bad it will be for us to leave the EU. Yet people are risking their lives to get away from a safe place with a great future to get to a place that is supposed to be about to crash and burn if you believe what some say.

It doesn't matter. Keep up with your point scoring. Considering all the facts doesn't really matter these days. Because if you do consider all the facts it means you hate the EU and have no compassion for those from the rest of the world.

Are they coming here from a safe country? Were they already safe? Does this make them illegal immigrants?

Have they been defended on this thread and those mentioning it been verbally attacked for their views of which are correct on saying that they are illegal immigrants and not escaping war and famine?

Erm... Westendlad was talking about illegal immigrants in Spon End getting benefits.

I don't quite get the point you are making.

People coming across in dinghys and boats and not going through the proper legal channels are illegal.

I've said we are all against that. We are, aren't we?

Read back on comments made. Those crossing the channel are supposed to be escaping war and famine. Countless comments similar have been made. They have gone through safe countries to risk their lives crossing the channel. Yes it makes them illegal immigrants wherever they have come from.

They cost us nothing? So they come with plenty of money? They don't need anywhere to live? Nothing to eat? Being illegal immigrants they are not allowed to work.

Yes people need more compassion. We need to do more to help. But it doesn't mean we have to ignore the truth. And no Otis you are not one of those.

Just look at the comment I quoted before your one. Tell me what you think was meant.

You don’t know why 200 people are leaving France for the UK. Most refugees/ economic migrants don’t leave the EU for the UK. The latest lot may have friends or relatives in the UK who have promised them a job. They maybe skilled and speak fluent English, but no French. Who knows? You being neutral use the 200 people, illegal migrants, leaving France/ the EU for the UK ( ignoring the 450 million citizens who don’t want to come to the UK ) as some sort of proof that Brexit Britain is a more desirable place to live.

Pretty desperate. You must hate the EU with a vengeance to bend the facts to claim people are risking their lives to escape the EU when there can be any of several reasons for illegal migrants coming to the UK. Weighing up Britain’s chances after Brexit against the future of the EU is not likely the reason why they have chosen the UK as a destination. Chances of their own successful personal progress would be their main consideration. Getting in before some perceived clampdown on immigration, legal and illegal, would be a motivation to try now.

Where are the lock up garages with luxury cars in Spon End that you were on about? Where are the free houses? Most of the blocks were built as council houses and didn’t have garages. The older properties go back a long way to when people didn’t have cars. Where do these illegals cashing in from the state live? Genuinely interested.

Why do they go past the South of France and think bollocks to that we want to get to a big city in the UK?

The way round it is to take out the smugglers and make it clear that the risk of getting in a dhingy isn't worth it as they will just be rejected.

At the minute is just a case of get so far out into the channel and get picked up.

Saw on the news earlier the majority are Kurds from Iran.

Exactly. There must be a network which gets them in and gives them some sort of start, or the word is out that it is easier for them to slip under the radar in the UK. Or they have family already in the UK. We don’t have ID Cards which may help getting into the system or getting black accommodation or black work.

Problem is, if they have thrown their ID away it is hard to send them back as their country won’t recognise them as their citizens.
