Immigration and Asylum

Not really. Let's say some or all of these parties across the UK and EU get in to power and enact their policies on migrants (or 'non-indigenous' people), and people don't see their day to day lives improve because it turns out, there's more to it than that.

Probably a debate to be had at that point as to whether it was worth it, or if we'd have been better off focusing more on underlying issues that have the biggest impact on most people's day to day lives (ageing population, housing market, energy etc.).
Ive said this before, but nobody has answered it yet to convince me it'sa good idea. How does bringing in more people to increase that ageing population or needing yet more places to house those extra people help?

Racism is suggesting everyone who looks different to themselves should leave. Not wanting more people but happy everyone from all colours, creeds, religions etc is welcome stay and simply saying no more, isnt racist, but unfortunately it's all treated the same if we say no more immigrants until we've sorted our mess.

Whilst people keep arriving who arent contributing, it will only get worse and our lives won't improve, because how can we have more and better services or more money in our pockets to assist that when the pot has to spread continually further and wider?

They're done.

And that was before the Met opened up a criminal investigation into them today.
If theyre done, theres always Restore waiting in the wings. Keep shouting Nazi, Racist, and Thicko at people. See how it goes But as Brexit, Reform and Germany have shown, im not sure you'll like the outcome.

Restore are even less credible than Reform

Restore aren't going to win an election 😂

I'm not making that argument. I'm pointing out that chucking migrants or the children of migrants out of the country might not solve a whole lot, certainly not as much as these parties are happy for people to think it will.

If Reform are closed down, as you seem very confident they will be, where do all their voters go? Labour? No chance. Greens? Haha! Tories? Most likely of the 3 but still pie in the sky.

Have Reform ever said they will? I'm not being argumentative, I genuinely dont know.

My reply in fairness was to your point about the housing or ageing population being bigger issues than migrants. Again that's probably true, so I'm not disagreeing with you, I just dont think the way to improve it is to allow more in.

I never said they are going to be closed down.

But even if they were, they aren't all going to Restore.

Reform and other parties here and in the EU have promised to varying degrees to deliver mass deportations and some on the fringes brought the ideas of indigenous and non-indigenous people into the chat.

I know you were joking but in all seriousness, it's done at this point. Not one person since the AFD vote has or is able to recognise the negative effects of this mass migration and why people voted for that to stop. Not a single comment.

It's the economy. It's the Nazis. People are thick. Then conversation goes to my Lithuanian neighbour works night shifts so there obviously isn't a problem, or talk about the RNLI whilst we tip toe around the elephant in the room. There are stories every single day of negatives, or an atrocity, happening as a result of recent immigration policy, yet they don't have the capability to talk about it, or even acknowlege it.

There is one thing you can do when people refuse to listen. Stop talking. Go and vote. That's what has happened and will now continue to happen as the debate is essentially over.
Ok I’ll bite. Why have AfD had more success in the former GDR as opposed to the former West?

It’s the economy, stupid.

No, questioning why people are needlessly putting not only their own lives at risk, but the lives of the RNLI who need to save them. There is ZERO reason for ANYBODY to be getting on a dinghy and risking their lives, and for that reaaon, there should be ZERO reason for the RNLI volunteers to voluntarily risk their lives to save them! Thats that! Something we'll clearly never see eye to eye on, but thats fine. You have your views, I have mine. And mine is, risk crossing the channel, illegally, in a shit dinghy, at your own risk. As once you arrive on the shores you'll be turned immediately round to risk it again going back. Thats exactly, and firmly where I stand!

To be honest there's a lot of RNLI callouts that are for people who have zero reason to be on the water. Holiday makers deciding to go for a swim and no knowing the state of the water, people taking out small craft for a bit of a jolly for the day. Even people going on fishing trips don't need to be on there unless they're actual fisherman doing it for their livelihood.

All of these people are unnecessarily risking the lives of RNLI volunteers to be saved so there's zero reason for the RNLI to help them, isn't there?

Very well said tbf. And will no doubt be replied to about "are wimmin and childrun" or some bollocks to deflect.

Been happening since Brexit, yet they still dont get it. Reform have gone from an idea, to one of the main parties within the space of a couple of years. Something many a new party has tried and failed to time and time again. But they dont ask why thats happened, they just blame the "racists" and "thickos" that vote for them. Not ask why they voted in the first place!

Is this meant to mean something? Are you trying to prove something with this GIF? I dont get the reasoning/meaning behind it?

It shouldn't need explaining should it.

The reason Reform (and UKIP before it) did well is because of Farage. Somehow the multi-millionaire ex-investment banker who went to a fee-paying school, dresses like a member of the landed gentry and even pronounces his name with a posh (dare I say it,, Gallic) flair somehow has enough charisma to convince enough ill-educated people that he's a man of the people and has got the answers. Despite the fact the only time he got what he said he would after decades of trying ended up being the unmitigated disaster his opponents has always told him it would be. But somehow he's coated in Teflon and it's not his fault. As would be the case if he got to No.10 and put in his policies. It would be an absolute disaster and migration wouldn't be solved, but undoubtedly there'd still be enough idiots saying it's not down to him.

It's pretty much inexplicable how so many people are taken in by him (as well as others around the world by people like him) but without him, Reform are just another joke, lunatic fringe.

I agree. But you could say the same about swimmers or idiots adrift in small craft. But that doesn't mean they should be left to drown because of their own recklessness and stupidity does it?

"ill educated "
"idiots"

Farage is a grifter. Always has been, always will be, but he's skilled at promising something lots of people want and what you've done above is part of them problem. The name calling from the opposite side of the argument and in particular telling folk they're thick, will only ever push them further towards that narrative.

I don't know why so many smart, well educated people are still repeating this ad nauseum and expecting a different outcome.

Because theyre not all as smart and well-educated as they like to think they are! They just like to think theyre better educated than Reform voters as it makes them feel theyve got the upper hand. Bit sad really. This has been pointed out, infact, day dreamer is responding to a post ive said about calling people thick having the complete oppositeeffect they think/want it to have, by calling people thick. Just shows they dont listen and they dont care. Its their way of thinking, or youre a thick, uneducated, bigoted racist.

So you go from going on about others being ill educated and thick but then make thick as fuck comparisons? 😂

Facts show that Reform voters are less likely to have qualifications than voters of other parties. It's just provable.

As for calling them idiots, despite all previous evidence telling them the man is a grifter whose policies crack under the slightest pressure and whose only big achievement has caused a massive problem for the very people voting for him, then again I think fair.

Or would you prefer people to just say 'yes, you're very clever thinking like that, but can we just make a few observations?" Or do you think that would be patronising.

And it's pointless anyway when that kind of halfway approach is tried because, as we've seen on here, if you step even on inch off their hardline step you're a lefty liberal who wants open borders, despite the fact pretty much everyone doesn't want open borders. Far from it. They want far more stringent, speeded up and offshore processing, they want deportation of those failed applicants and those who break the law speeded up, they want far more done to prevent these people wanting to make the journey by winning the propaganda war with the smugglers encouraging them to make the trip including looking at ways in which it will be less financial advantageous to be here instead of elsewhere. Hell, I've even suggested a migrant's licence which can pick up points like a driving licence and if you get too many points you lose the right to remain, which IMO is pretty draconian. But because I don't want things the boats shot at and the occupants to be left to drown in the sea apparently I want open borders.

Hence why I've given up on reasoned discussion with them and why I'll call them idiots.

It's all examples of people who are on the sea for no apparent good reason resulting in RNLI volunteers having to risk themselves to save them.

And some would very well argue people on the water because they want to escape a shit life because they've been told they'd have a better life elsewhere is a more valid reason to risk your life on the water than just going for a bit of a paddle because it seemed like fun.

The 2024 GE where they won 6 seats is not necessarily representative of the polls that suggest they're the next government. They were a fringe/protest party which always attracts nutcases. Arguably still are a protest party, but no longer a fringe one.

It's true in some respects, the Msm have launched him built him up and all commentators on SM BEING positive or negative are fanning the flames, it's rediculous.

Two off the latest polls have reform in 3rd place behind the Tories. The polls are starting to become more representative of the last GE and are starting to suggest that Reform will not be the next government.

As others said before, Reform likely peaked too early and have managed to cover themselves in corruption and sleaze that just makes them look like hypocrites. Their new hilarious retort to any criticism (boring, boring, boring) just shows they’re not a serious party.

Sky did a look at Durham council in the week. Once Reforms flagship council where they won with a massive majority now very close to losing overall control with defections, resignations and expellings. Some of the stories regarding bullying are staggering. The gist of it is there’s a cult surrounding the reform council leader and unless you’re blindly following him and towing the line without unwavering support your a traitor, no grey are, no discussion around compromise, you tow the line or you’re a traitor. And traitor is the word that they’re using including at two distinguished ex soldiers who left reform due to the bullying only for it to continue on line.

Best thing that ever happened to the country was reform winning control of councils so people can see for themselves what reform looks like in power and it ain’t pretty. The opinion polls were already turning before the sleaze started coming to the fore and I suspect there performance in local government is playing its part on that. That performance is also coming more into the light because of the sleaze.

It’s far too early to declare them finished and no chance at the next GE but that is currently the direction of travel.

It proves very little. The main problem is people tend to migrate to more conservative parties as they get older. The education data is skewed towards younger people having degrees as the escalation of people going into university started 25 years ago. I personally wouldn’t automatically assume a degree student of today is especially academically bright.

What I find funny about this data is that you are more likely to vote Green is you have a higher degree. A party who the institute of fiscal studies has described as economically illiterate and with a manifesto described as “La La land economics”

It seems education is a circle like politics. The more academic you are the more stupid you become.
