Sisu did leave the place in a mess granted

he’s running the risk of having fans turned against him though if what is to be believed is true

2k a week, 100k a year
£100k a year for your best player, you surely have to find a creative solution. Find some kind of local business willing to sponsor the player
Or promise the player 5% of the transfer fee as loyalty bonus if he is sold instead of the £100k upfront.
Make him captain, speak to Fadz, he is a winner and a leader regardless of title, I am sure he happily would give up the captaincy to get Hamer signed up

But will still look a lot better than last season
That's not difficult.
The trainig ground has suffered from a lack of serious investment for years. Its way behind most championship clubs facilities.
MR has managed to improve things, but ideally we'd move to a new location and start from scratch.

Yeah the building is incredibly tired and the facilities are comparable to an average L1 club. Great the pitches are being done but the whole site needs a revamp over the coming years.

Leeds will pull close to 38k week in and week out and that's before the cheating parachute money. Leicester will be a big draw too and there's the other recently relagated sides. Sunderland are a big club. We can't out-compete these clubs in the casino and we need a full squad of players. This means the club has to reckon up properly what it is spending. There's no magic fairy riding into town on the back of filthy oil money and slave labour.
I agree with this to some extent speedie, I know we can’t compete

we can spend another 100 grand a year on keeping the best midfielder in the division though, I’m sorry you can’t argue with this

we’re gonna be getting 17 minimum for vik

It won't fall on 100k over a year, 300 k over the contract. Leeds (just for exampe) might offer him say 500k or 600 k per year more and a fair chance of promotion in the automatic spots if they play it right. Hamer will also be judging how he feels the club is going and if we're likely to be competitive maybe top 6 all year or something like that. He won't want to be 28 and still in the Championship and that's right from his point of view.

I agree I think it’s to small a figure over the 3 years to not keep him, but that is what is being quoted/discussed

Hamer will be judging it on how much we want to keep him, and in my opinion if we’re not offering him 20 a week for the performances he’s put in for us week in week out I think he has every right to feel aggrieved.

if he has to go I’ll take a poor season (16th/17th) in order to take 2 steps forward.

but I won’t take a really poor season and be in a relegation battle which would be my fear

DK when he bought the club said he’d spend the money if it’s right, I’m sorry I don’t see how this can’t be.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the figures quoted on this forum. Frankly I don't believe them.

It's more likely DK has implemented a set-in-stone wage cap which he feels shouldn't be breached.

Similar to SISU I suspect DK will be strict on budget. His target quite clearly is to ensure the club is as self-sustaining as possible - which at this level I don't think is really achievable but that's another conversation for another thread - and much of the operating costs will be swallowed through ticketing/sponsoring/commercial revenue, along with player sales.

I'd imagine he also feels that if he caves to Hamer's demands that it'll set a precedent. You only have to look at his comments re. Gyokeres to gain an understanding of his attitude regarding who he believes holds all the cards.

Quite frankly as a fan I don’t care what precedent it sets, we’re in the championship, we were so close to the premier league.

let’s start showing some ambition in terms of keeping our best players, mr can’t keep overachieving. I get that is why DK has put prices up but in return and IF these figures are true I’m sorry I feel slightly let down

if a player wants to knock on the door and say why is Gus getting 20 grand the proof is in the pudding

Vik will be gone this week €20 million... Gus not signing new contract as terms aint good enough so will accept offer above £8.5 million, Leeds Utd favourites at the moment, just waiting on Farke being appointed then deal will most probably happen... He liked Hamer when he was manager at Norwich but no bid was ever made 💙
I’ve heard there’s strong interest from Leicester.

Ryton is funking tiny and so out of date it's embarrassing.
A couple of years ago people were losing their minds at the idea SISU might sell off Ryton and move us to other training facilities. Now we're supposed to believe it's so bad that players are going to refuse to sign for us because of it.

Yeah this has come from a Leicester fan asking about him and claiming there’s strong interest from their side.
Yeah, I’ve heard it from our end, heard there’s definitely strong interest in him

i don’t even want to comprehend that

And the premier league. Doubt he will be going to Leicester if the premier league come calling.

Personally I’d stay away from Leicester as their in a awful financial mess.

Supposedly so were Burnley when they went down but then went and bought loads of players and went straight back up.

Leicester will sell off a few good players like Maddison and they will be fine

Granted they've spent beyond their means but in reality they'll be fine.

7 players on first team contracts have already been moved on upon expiry of their contract/loan and Barnes and Maddison will soon follow for significant fees. There's also doubts on whether Jonny Evans will renew his deal.

I'd imagine Iheanacho will probably receive interest as will Castagne and Ndidi.

If they're successful in moving the above on that will pretty much account for the majority of high earners.

I very much doubt he would be allowed to leave here for either of those two or any other championship club even if it means keeping him here until his contract runs down.
Whilst I admire your optimism @slowpoke

there’s no way we’ll keep him and run that risk I’m sorry that’s delusional thinking

They have to sell before they can buy Maddison is the obvious one and Harvey Barnes but there is a problem with Maddison from Norwich who get a slice of any profit, I believe they have objected to the valuation Leicester have put on him as too low.

How can a players former club object to a transfer fee?
I don’t know but I believe they have, something to do with Spurs sniffing around Maddison and Barnes at a combined fee of £50 million and Norwich claiming Maddison alone should be that. Maddison will move on though I’m certain, and we get a slice of the Norwich slice.

I don't really understand your point? It's entirely irrelevant if they're unhappy with Leicester's valuation. They have zero say.

I'm sure Sisu would only of sold the training ground if they could make profit out of the move, ie, sell the asset and rent another facility, or something along those lines.

What we need (ideally) is to move to a new, bigger, upto date facility that we will own outright.

I've not heard any player say they are refusing to sign for us because of the training ground, where have you got that from?
