The chap that runs the Henley action group posted it.

The housing thing is interesting as its long been put forward by those campaigning that part of the site would be sold for housing to pay for the other work. Of course that is being denied as one of the reasons being given that it should be sold to Wasps is that its unviable as a public sports centre so if its not sold to Wasps a property developer will buy it and build houses.

You really couldn't make this shit up.

Isn't one of the wasps directors who is listed on the planning application also conveniently a new director of a house builders

And there is a community-led consortium with the funds available now to take over the site, deliver current and invest in event better leisure and fitness services to the local communities in the way that the land was designated and intended. They have presented a business plan that stacks up and can move on it immediately. The more you dig (literally) into this story the more it stinks... The Henley Sports Centre Alliance is asking for any contacts in the national media to expose this farce and the merry bunch of charlatans who are behind it so if you can help head over to their facebook site please

Think a couple of them formed a property development company when they purchased the land next to Higgs. That seemed to quietly be disposed off around the time Saracens were in the shit for getting round the salary cap by setting up dodgy property development companies. Just another one of those weird coincidences.

I know its not national but the sad thing is we all know if it was Fisher proposing this it would be all over CWR and the Telegraph.

Of course it would, but the telegraph need to keep their flags and advertising money

I also think if it was ccfc doing this then most fans would be against it for all the reasons expressed so far, yet wasps "fans" are almost gloating in what is going on which again just proves that the vast majority of them are cunts

*Waits for peachesandcream to come on and defend their actions again*

I'd hate to disappoint you, but I will anyway. I actually agree with you I don't think they should be allowed to take over the sports center and evict all the local sports clubs that use it, if they do take over they should improve the facilities and make it available for their continued use. if you look through my posts i don't actually defend Wasps Holdings as i think they could have handled a lot of things a lot better than they have, i have constantly advocated CCFC playing at the Ricoh with a deal that would allow them access to match day revenues and be beneficial to both clubs even if it only short term while you build a stadium.

Just to cheer you all up Wasps have had 7 positive Covid19 tests, 4 players and 3 backroom staff. no names have been given so might be not even be first team squad members but it may mean having to cede the final.

When I had a quick look on the Wasps forum to see what they were making of it one chap was actually suggesting that the Henley residents should pay for replacement facilities which could be located at a school in Stratford!

Every supporter and all interested parties including the morons wear rose-tinted specs which is why it's so important to have the objectivity, diligence, professionalism and wholly unbiased approach of local councillors and planning officers to steer a wholly unbiased approach to all planning applications taking into account government and local planning principles, laws, regulations and frameworks and ... hang on where did that go wrong ?

Getting covid does'nt cheer anyone up! its a killer to certain people even superfit sportsmen, we should pray for their safe passage through the damn desease. These sports people footballers included need to think where they are going after finishing their work and avoid people as best they can.

Absolutely, hate wasps (the club) with a passion but wouldn’t wish ill on their players or fans. There’s no pleasure in seeing people test positive, (although exceptions can be made for certain leaders of countries starting with a U...)

Comment was more aimed at the fact we may have to cede the final to Exeter.

Uganda or Uruguay, or perhaps Ukraine, or even United Arab Emirates?
I hope your not referring to the United Kingdom!

So, despite 711 written objections, a 3000 signature petition, 81% of people questioned in a ballot, all of the local Parish Councils, the Medical Centre, the local High School, SDC's own Core strategies, Sport England, England Hockey, Uncle Tom Cobley and all, being opposed to the absurd notion of a franchise Rugby team from London taking over a viable rural Sports Centre, the case officer has recommended that the application be passed at the planning meeting on October 21st, subject to a farcical payment to, wait for it - help towards some sporting facilities in the exact area that they have just deprived! You really couldn't make it up!
The justification for this approval are amongst other things: " I am satisfied that sufficient evidence has been provided to indicate that there is no realistic prospect of the facility continuing for commercial and/or operational reasons on that site", absolute nonsense, as they are well aware, we have proof of funds to help keep it open for the local community, but have not once been contacted regarding this!
"Local concerns at the loss of Henley Sports College are understandable, however, I cannot see any evidence to suggest the former use can continue and I am satisfied that the development would be in accordance with 2 of the criteria for CS.25 when the policy requirement would only be for compliance with one criteria. Furthermore, the involvement of the WASPs Community Development Team will help to promote healthy, inclusive communities in the spirit of the CS.25 and therefore should be supported". I'm lost for words!
A much heralded community use order which caters for: Archery, Gaelic Football, Rugby League, Rugby Union and Lacrosse, and that's it, are you joking? I would suggest they put plans in for a traffic island outside the entrance to cope with the demand. According to the officer this makes up for the loss of Football, Hockey, a Gym, Basketball, Karate, Netball, Flyball, Pilates, Weightlifting, Cricket, Trampolining and many more popular sports.
The whole report could have been lifted directly from Wasps ridiculously inaccurate application, and it is a huge disappointment that the officer has seemingly ignored the basic facts, as well as the local feeling and certainly any sense of morality. That doesn't matter though, as it is not her who will have to tell her children that they can no longer play sport in Henley. There are many, many people involved in this whole debacle who should hang their heads in shame.
Based on the fact that there are a fair amount of shall we say coincidental circumstances surrounding this sale, we are in contact with the national media. If anyone has any contacts regarding this, either national or local, please pm me asap.
In the meantime, we will keep on fighting and hope that either the remaining planning committee see sense, Sport England come to our rescue, or our District Councillor who is on the planning committee for this application, has the chance to convince his Council colleagues of what is best for his constituents, oh wait a minute!

Taken from the Henley alliance page.
In my experience couple of years ago, if a Planning Authority are minded to approve a proposal but Sports England are objecting, then it will automatically go to the Secretary of State, to decide whether he wants to call it in.
Failing that the local community groups could Judicially Review the decision.

I would hope the authority put a significant number of conditions on the approval
