there won't be a 70 in sight,

wasn't king the only 70+ (after the update) in FIFA 11

expect many in the low 60s and anyone from the academy to be 40-50 because EA are too lazy to accurately report on the lower leagues

Thats simply not true.
EA Sports have a huge array of researchers & editors watching all clubs from the youth team right up to the first team. These are often season ticket holders at the clubs mixed in with impartial researchers.
Until Academy players have proven their ability to play in the first team over a period of time their ratings will be low, particularly their mental & physical attributes (although their potential can still be very high).

For what its worth players Overall Ratings mean actually very little anyway, they are rated in loads of different attributes (skill based, mental based & physical based) its the individual attributes that define a player.

From what I'm aware the ratings system has changed for Fifa 12. Not sure in what way yet though. Going from past years I wouldn't expect a player to be over 70, not even Sammy. Dunn will be rated in the 50's as he's come from League 2 and the academy kids will be in the 50's at best unless someone has represented CCFC on the database team.

The scores are way too high. Most of the players will be in the 50s.

They usually are a little similar to the year before they have all flirted around the same number, bell was what70! Mcsheff before updates72!
Rod was 65

And they won't be in 50s as players like jeffers have been 55-60 the past couple off years.

The ratings system has had a pretty big overhaul with less emphasis based on Physical stats and mental and tactical stats having a bigger influence on not only rating but how the player plays. Trust me i'm a Data Reviewer for FIFA and Cov in particular. Even we don't get to see Overral Rating as that can cause bias and individual stats being more focused, so here's my guesses

Murphy:66
Dunn:57
craine:68
Wood:65
Clarke:61 (Potenital of 72)
Turner:66 (Potential of 75)
Keogh:65
Hussey:60
Christie:56
Mcpake:63
Cameron:59
Clingan:70
Deegan:62
Bell:64
Baker:63
Mcsheffrey:67
Bigirimana:56 (70 Potential)
Thomas:54
Jutkiewicz:67 (75 Potential)
Eastwood:66
ROD:60
Wilson:50
Jeffers:51

I think some of the initial ratings are a little optimistic, i think our best players are either going to be Clingan or McSheffrey, both pushing 70. Anyone else notice when the roster update came out for fifa 11, Deegs was nowhere in the squad?

EA were guilty of having Northampton Towns centre back listed as a goalkeeper in one edition of FIFA sometime ago.

And many players in the championship (and below) are indistinguishable- e.g. the pacey players are not pacey and the physically strong players are not strong- too many generic players/abilities.

When you say some time ago, how long? Certainly hasn't been like that in the last few years.

05 maybe 06- so some time ago admittedly, but I still think they under rate players that aren't in the top leagues.

There's probably someone in league 1or2 that can run quicker than, say bale but he will have a lower top speed/acceleration number cause he's in a lower league.
You never see anyone in league one who is quicker than premier league players.

Fair enough. The way data is edited has changed a lot since then & is getting better all the time.
The top leagues, understandably, attract a lot of attention & if anything younger players at Prem clubs are overrated but that should hopefully be changing over time.

Not true, at least not anymore.
Mental & Physical attributes can be high regardless of leagues. Skill attributes will obviously be higher dependent on which league the player is in though.

That's good to hear, always felt the lower leagues weren't represented well enough.

Always thought FIFA should adopt the PES 'form' system as well (assuming they haven't already) for career modes. Because 'on their day' there's nothing stopping a league 2 side competing with a prem team- albeit on rare occasions.
