In fairness to him, there’s plenty of cases where high profile cases of harassment and worse offences are only brought forward long times after they happen. Where people come forward we should assume they are doing so in good faith unless there’s substantive evidence otherwise.

I don't consider the second to be a full and happy life either. And how much 'self respect' do you have if you spend pretty much you entire waking life working while someone else gets even more money for doing nothing because they own a piece of paper saying they own shares etc. That is a far bigger problem than people on benefits watching homes under the hammer.

There's a strong argument that the increasing greed of the top 1 or 2% is causing an increase in those not working because why would they want to work themselves into an early grave to barely be able to keep their head above water and for younger generations home ownership is a pipe dream now for most.

I don't think that's old fashioned, I think thats normal. In the larger scale UBI trials the percentage of people not working doesn't shoot up. Most people want to work and contribute to society, they just want to feel what they are doing is worthwhile and be adequately rewarded.

Now a lot of us don't have the former so when the later also drops away you've got a problem. And that's where we're at now.

We've got a generation coming through that don't understand why those of us in the preceding generations prioritise work over everything for companies who couldn't give a shit about us and would drop us the second its to their advantage. We stick with theses jobs and working all hours even to the point that it hugely negatively impacts our relationships and health and to the younger generations that just doesn't make sense. It's not a path they want to follow when they feel work barely covers the basic cost of living and perceive home ownership to be unattainable.

But there is a difference between never having worked a day and feeling your working all the time to enrich others. Sure there are some that want to game the system but on the whole if people feel it's worth their while they want to work and feel they're contributing.

But in recent years (post 2008 really) that is becoming harder. Wages have stagnated with the shift to a service industry leading to a huge number of jobs created being low skill, low pay, while prices have risen. Housing has gone through the roof and property ownership is almost impossible for youngsters, and they face the reality of spending a fortune over their lifetimes for somewhere to live with no asset at the end of it while people with the means buy up more and more property for rental and the gap gets even bigger. So unsurprisingly more and more are thinking 'fuck that for a game of soldiers' and not bothering.

And those playing the stock market do everything they can to avoid paying tax wherever possible. And the entire thing is the biggest con - it's made up money that doesn't actually exist, as we're constantly being told with wealth tax how can you tax something that is so volatile and not particularly tangible? It's utter bollocks and we really need to work out a way of weaning ourselves off it. It causes more damage than good.

As for people at the top being greedy being an excuse not to work, I call it having self worth. Why shouldn't your time be precious too? Would they get out of bed at 6am and not get in until 7/8pm at night for £15-20 an hour?
