As a resident of block 15 if the Away fans moved then the vast majority of people would just try and move closer to the away fans. It's the closeness to the away fans that makes the atmosphere.

Yeah, as has already been said the whole stadium is arse about face. Away fans should have the north stand, deal with the sun etc. and the players entrance should have been put there and the casino entrance the other side. Then the vast majority of our fans would never have even come in contact with the away fans as we go towards Tesco.
As it is they just need to get someone in that is used to football crowds.

Concourse is an easy fix.
Policed properly, they could put away fans in Singers Corner without many issues.
We've been to many grounds this season where fans have walked out of the stadium into the path of each other.
As others have mentioned previously on this thread, trouble is more likely to occur on the hill after you've caged fans together away from the bowl into a more open space.
Even your die hard hooligans aren't going to cause trouble next go the stadium bowl as they exit the ground because they'll be caught and it will be filtered through.
Ultimately, if we were ever in the PL, we'd have Coventry fans behind the goal with just 3000 away allocated pushed towards the main stand. A bit like Crewe/Gillingham games.

I 100% agree aswell. I'm getting fed up with seeing these kids not give a shit where and when they take it. There was a whole group of about 20 lads standing in the stairway of block 45 passing it around just snorting off their hands throughout the first half. Second half they had all moved right over to where the away fans were giving it the big one.
I'm that sick of it at away games after Reading i think i'll just stick to away midweek games or long-distance like Boro where they don't tend to travel.

Crewe have about 1800 here. Should we ever be successful, this is how it would be for away fans at the Ricoh.
Obviously we'd need to give 3000, so an extra block would be given.
The police would have to do their job and segregate properly inside the bowl like 90% of other stadia in this country.
Would be amazing to have behind the goal next to away fans plus the corner currently. 4-5000 instead of the limited number currently in block 14-16.

There is more than 10 years ago I agree but no more than 3/4/5 years and the trouble is only getting worse now.
I think lockdown has a part to play too.

That would be my first choice. I have mentioned before but it usually gets the feedback that it’s impossible and the concourse can’t be altered. It would help for shipping away fans towards the train station (if we had a train running one day) and car park C for away coaches.

The current issues this season are definitely down to a mixture of those things.
You also have to factor lads who have recently turned 18/19 would have still been kids prior to the lockdowns and a sizeable number of fans returning to stadium following banning orders in 2016 from the Euros.
I always refer back to The Streets lyrics when thinking of behaviour at football:

If their lives don't provide them this, they incite violence'
The fact is, quality of life has been shite for two years and is continuing to decline. While that's not an excuse, blokes are releasing their anger/depression/energy at football matches.
We're not returning to organised hooliganism, but regular childish behaviour.

I’m reluctant to criticise our fans as 99.9% are fantastic but this irks me. If people want to take that rubbish they should go and do it out of view of everyone else. It’s intimidating to families attending and leaves a lasting memory. I saw it being openly consumed at Blackburn away on the train there and regular passengers were actively moving carriages and complaining to the staff.

Whilst I´m generally having a laugh with that, I think there is something in people after having been locked down for two years. There is also definitely an increase of cocaine use too. It has an impact. In some ways it seems people are doing it as freely as smoking a quick joint ten years ago. At least that is what it feels like to me.

We've all been locked down doesn't make me want to snort washing powder up my nose then act like a complete prick so I can then go back to the pub to get a pat on the back from my other so called friends. There is no deterrent other than the odd copper tel you to back off.

You're right, Gak usage hasn't really gone but since before lockdown.
I guess just bigger crowds = more people which means more bellends.
In plenty of the bigger crowds of yore there were loads of cocks as well. In the cup game against Chelsea for example the amount of bottles and other shit thrown at the away end was madness.

I put it down to lockdown. Everyone's gone a little loopy from it. I've been to 6 away games and there's been knobheads in our end at every single one. Most of them can't grow facial hair yet either.

I didn't go on the train to Blackburn but the same thing was happening on the train to Sheff Utd and it was 9am in the morning.
My 12 year old lad won't go to the toilet at away games anymore because of all the drugs going on which is a sad state of affairs.

I think a few of the new gak fiends managed to save a few quid over the course of 2020, with no football, clubs, holidays or festivals to spend their money on. It's not the most sustainable habit, and I'm not aware of any big fluctuations in price either way, but it might be as affordable as it's ever been at the moment.

I find it madness. When I did partake back in my early twenties it made me sit staring through MTV on the telly and chatting constant rubbish with friends, with a bit of a shrunken knob. Last thing I would have wanted to do was run on the pitch or have a dust up. Maybe I was getting shite stuff.
