Its not that hard to move a player like that on, you just tell him he's not going to play much, which will likely be the truth when everyone is fit. Last thing Simms needs at this point in his career is a full year doing almost nothing.

It’s all guesswork mate. He’ll know whether he’s likely to play or not/what the manager thinks of him. He’ll also know that at the end of the season he’s on a free and can make a fortune. I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes or in his head, nor does anyone else on here.

You also can't force a player to sign a contract elsewhere. If Simms decided he wanted to stay and fight for his place there’s nothing anyone could do.

This is very true, but its also what bomb squads are all about. In Simms's case it looks like theres no place to fight for.

It could be the club showing Simms the door in January, and letting him know he's now 4th choice striker, which isnt good if your in a team that only plays 1 up front.

We've heard no news about a contract extension being offered, (Unless ive missed it) so with his contract running out id expect him to leave in Jan anyway.
