Match Thread Coventry City vs Aston Villa [LC] (H) - Coventry Building Society Arena - Wed 16th September (8pm KO) (1 Viewer)

I think Mfuni will play lb in this one.
Maybe not for the whole game though.

All depends on the line up Sunday but good to give some guys minutes.

Bentley
KKH? Bobby Pinnock Mfuni
Torp Yirenkyi Gus
Sakamoto Simms Ghobo

Frank Lampard said in his press conference yesterday that KKH will not be back in training until after the international break.

I want to see Hamer have a chance in his preferred role, I really wish we could drop MvE but KKH is out, just through Gboho in its a cup game let him play his way to sharpness, I think this will prove to be our strongest team soon maybe Bobby in at CB for Mfuni and Awoniyi or Wright up front

Got to play the strongest team possible, what the fuck have we got to gain by sticking in the reserves.

Rushworth
Lati Thomas Mfuni Bidwell
Yerinkyi Hamer
Sakamoto Tchaouna Gboho
Cherif

For this one I would say play something like the team that starts at Forest and try and get some fluidity and confidence in to the players. Cant see how playing 'fringe' players is going to help anyone. Its still early in the season so fatigue isnt an issue. Im generally in favour of a back 3 but can see FL going with a 4 for this one, so:-

Rushworth
MVE Thomas Amenda Mfuni
Yirencki Grimes Hamer
Tchouna Cherif Gboho*

*EMC if not fit enough

If we had someone to play instead of MVE it would be perfect (but we havent) and if FTT is fit then play him instead of Grimes.

If he sticks with a back 3
Rushworth
Thomas Amenda Mfuni
Tchouna Yirencki Hamer JDS
Saka [or Rudoni] Cherif Gboho

Honestly not massively fussed what the scoreline is but obviously would like a win. More important is the performance and response to today.

It’s really difficult to care about this one. Winning won’t mean anything when we go to the City Ground on Saturday and lose soundly again.

Even after Plymouth even though we won we weren't great. They dominated us for large parts and players like hamer, kitching, Lati and tats were given chances and just looked terrible.

I just think momentum matters as well, never want to lose a game but it's a chance to get the new players playing and there's no more excuses about them being "new"

Really pissed off at the thought of empty seats throughout the home sections , even before todays result .

As long as Mfuni, Hamer and Gboho get 60+ mins each I’ll take it. Got to try new players and systems, couldn’t care less about the cup, we need to find solutions for the league. If SIMMs is in the dog house we have a problem up top as Cherif isn’t going to last full games Wrd and Saturday having seen him today.

Seems clear that BTA will be playing a part in one or both games. Which frankly is criminal

After today, really struggling to muster any kind of enthusiasm for this. It's our first match against Villa since 2001 which I've spent years thinking would be a momentous and electric occasion, but ticket sales are dire and confidence on and off the pitch is shot.

I'm going because I've paid for my ticket, but I can't say I'm much looking forward to it.

-----Rush
MVE--Amenda--Thomas--Mfuni
-----Yirenkyi--Hamer
---------------Rudoni
Tachouna--Cherif----Gboho

A confidence boosting win would be nice but more likely we'll get done over by Villa and have people taking the piss about the ground being half empty.

This formation and whatever variation of these players please LINEUP111789338296433.webp
