Good debut from Rushworth and a point was as much as we can take from that - we are crying out for a striker with pace - someone who poses a threat - Charlie Hughes had a good game though if we are still in for him but striker is priority - as much as I like BTA effort I was not enthused with him starting up front

I really hope Lampard does read this forum, I suspect he does as he signed a keeper after reading we needed one, as some of the more informed posters said on here.

Mr Lampard, we need a new striker and winger, get Doug to empty his pockets.

don’t listen to the likes of Cam who said our attack was fine as we scored X amount of goals last year.

Why the hell Lampard refuses to play him there I’ll never understand. BTA did OK up front but is beyond useless out wide. If you want to put Wright up front then Brau or another LW should have come on. But it should have just been a like for like.
Yeh I don't get it either. Wright says he wants to go through the middle... well sorry mate, you're better on the left. Cope.

On a positive note we kept a clean sheet and that's before we buy Charlie Hughes 🙂

The midfield was decent and from his cameo appearance it looks as if Brau can play LW, which gives us cover for EMC without having to use HW. This is important if we are going to use HW as a central striker, which I think we have to in the absence of other good options.

We obviously need another striker.

Overall, the performance wasn’t terrible, we were comfortably the better side but there was the feeling that is was ‘same old’ from last season and struggled to breakdown stubborn opposition.

Thought it was strange that EMC went off in the first place but assume he’s either got a niggle or just managing his minutes.

On that note, we need wingers. If we only make one signing before the end of the transfer window, let it be a quality winger. Again, one sub today and we’ve got a striker and a LB trying to fill in at LW.

Clearly we need a striker, however I thought Torp and Rudoni who are meant to be the creative output in our team we’re so below par today, include in that EMC it’s really not hard to see how we never looked like scoring.

BTA is fast, Haji is, even Simms is no slouch. The issues are tactical

Two great chances for Rudoni, hit the bar, two free headers, two great chances for sakamoto, two brliant cut backs with nobody on the end. But wE didn't cReAtE aNyThInG 🥴
The cut backs were frustrating as the goal was gaping and just waiting for the final touch. Despite all their focus on crosses and headers, I wish FL and his coaches spent time working on finishing cut backs in the 6 yard box. So many teams score goals this way.?

I genuinely think it's more the way we play than the strikers being shit.

Yes, BTA and Simms aren't exactly up to the level but the way we play makes them look worse than they are.

We don't play balls for them to run onto, we don't play anything in behind or over the top, we fuck it out wide every time and then try and work the ball back around the box. We could have Kane up front and it wouldn't make a difference because he wont get a sniff.

Says it all really when 90% of our shots taken today were from fullbacks, midfielders and wingers.

I think he has that in his game, good runs, but not much else

Be great if he could finish

If we could give Wright or Simms his attitude and instinct we’d have a great striker on our hands.

Chief Commentator!
Barring their keeper feigning injury at the end because he can no longer hold the ball in his hands for too long, not sure where 8 mins injury time came from

The last free kick from MVE, terrible!

Lacking up top. Be interesting to see if we try something different on Tuesday just to see it works

Sheaf, the less said the better. He clearly wasn’t fit so why even put him on the bench never mind bring him on

Brau was a waste of a sub as we didn’t use him when he came on. Yet on the Bristol showing, has a quality left boot!

Difficult to find too many positives other than we controlled the game and got a clean sheet. Attacking wise, we have to improve. More so given our best chances came from Tats and MVE

Anyway the worst thing about today was the two chavvy women sat behind me who didn’t shut up literally all game about how much they hated Simms and EMC and was Bidwell gay or something for talking to the opposition.

Please god let them not be season ticket holders

Bidwell going balls deep in a Hull sub on the bench would have been comfortably the highlight of the game.

One of my issues with this style of play. You basically make 5 stand up front which results in little to no space to play. Playing quicker will bring more depth to the play and get them more involved.
