Don't remember us having any clear chances and the match stats back that up (xG < 1). New signings or not, we've got to find a way to play that makes better chances. All the crosses feel hit and hope.

You'd expect if this is the plan, that we'd be laser focused on whoever's out wide looking to cross has their head up and aims to pick someone out but I never see that. It's frustrating as hell and I don't get it.
The biggest chance was a low cross into the box that Torp was about to side foot in, then Asante got in the fucking way.

It was a decent performance if toothless. Seemed like Hull shit the bed after ten mins and then shut up shop for a point which you can’t knock. That will be the order of the day most home games so it needs a tweak to unlock. We need a new striker to replace Simms and Bassette, and we need Wright 100%… I maintain he is still clearly not fit per the back end of last season. One or both of those scenarios should make the difference.

Theres merit in saying it looked like a continuation of last season. But I’d snap your hand off for top six again so it’s not really a bad thing.

If we have been found out, a continuation of how we played last season wont be enough to make the top 6. More teams will tske points off us and unlikely last years tally would be enough. We have to improve.

We are at our best when we used to play fast. Teams who counter or break fast is so hard to defend against.

Under Robins we were a counter-attacking team, little possession but fast countering. King came in, became obvious we have some money and Robins decided he wanted us to be a possession based team. Now this is what we have, slow, robotic and boring play.

I’m sure we’ll be fine as we have good players but I’d switch back to fast countering all day over this.
Before we had poorer players making the most of few scoring opportunities given to them. Now we've got better players making few scoring opportunities.

Stats :-
18 shots
3 on target
36 touches in their box
that smacks of not clinical enough finishing, never mind trying to buy Hughes, Thomas and Kitching look solid enough with a decent goalie behind them. Use the money to get a bloke who knows how to finish!
Well it assumes a lot. That those touches in the box were ones which could have realistically resulted in a shot on target. It assumes that the shots we take are in a position whereby the chance created is one that we have time to focus on getting it on target, not some snatched effort where the defence are on us or a pot shot from the edge of the area because we've failed to create a decent shooting chance.

There may well be an element of poor finishing, but it could just as easily be due to failing to create decent chances.

On paper it looks like a reasonable start to the season-one of them “reasonable” games has now gone. Mentions for Rushworth/Milan and Saka. JDS was ok and had a brilliant opportunity in the 2nd half when he skipped past a couple on the left, approached the area and then blasted the ball high to the other side of the area when a simple ball along the ground would have seen us with an opportunity to break the deadlock.
Not great-but one of those performances where if you don’t win the game/don’t lose the game scenarios and we take the point.

is it not worth crediting hulls defence rather than saying our attack was poor? we tried the same thing over and over (i know, contradiction) and they happiliy defended it all day.
