He's dropped a bollock there hasn't he? Just admitted that SISU has asked the council in the past about specific sites.
Yeah, that's probably why he isn't allowed to talk.

Don’t know who is conducting the interview but he is asking the right questions
Should have asked about the butts, judging duggins sounding like he was going to pass out it might have needed st John's on hand.

It wasn't worth going to the meeting as nothing came out of it. Maybe because you didn't turn up :emoji_rolling_eyes:

Anything in parliament is a waste of time because nothing ever gets sorted. Could have said that as soon as they were invited to the meeting rather than just not turn up.

He sent a solicitor because she had the authority to accept the legals being dropped.

No intention to negotiate and discuss.

I'm actually stunned by how bad a job he managed to make in what was a short interview with predictable questions.

Was it what you call a "car crash" interview? I'm only just about to listen to it played back now.

Ha he has replied to the observer quoting Jimmy hill way

“I do not accept for one minute that I will be the Council Leader who will preside over Coventry City Football Club leaving the Ricoh that is a decision for the owners and the owners alone. It was they who left the Ricoh in 2013 and it will be they who can avoid a repeat in 2019. David Johnson’s excellent article points to “..enough judges to form a football team, ruling on various stages of legal action."

Just hiding behind legal action and judges making a decision on a couple of points.

It is as if the usual advisor has been on holiday for a week and it has all gone to shit with somebody else in charge.

He's responded to the Observers questions. Turns out its not just radio interviews he struggles with.
“The reason why Julie attended on behalf of the Council is as follows. The primary aim is to encourage SISU to drop all legal action and to move forward and this has been the stipulation of WASPS before any further agreement is reached, this needs to happen now as time is running out.

“It is Julie Newman as the City Solicitor and the Council’s most senior legal officer who has the authority to settle, withdraw or otherwise act as appropriate in relation to legal proceedings and to give effect to decisions to act in the Council’s interest. It would be Julie Newman who would confirm consent to the Court if any application had been made by SISU to withdraw proceedings; unfortunately SISU has chosen not to do this. You will note after yesterday’s meeting we are where we began much as I anticipated.

“I do not accept for one minute that I will be the Council Leader who will preside over Coventry City Football Club leaving the Ricoh that is a decision for the owners and the owners alone. It was they who left the Ricoh in 2013 and it will be they who can avoid a repeat in 2019. David Johnson’s excellent article points to “..enough judges to form a football team, ruling on various stages of legal action.

“I will be making a Leaders statement on Tuesday, and have a series on interviews lined up with the BBC in which all aspects of the situation will be dealt with.”
If you're in any doubt still about the relationship between the council and certain fan groups you've got the leader of the council quoting Johnson as his defence for not attending the meeting!

And now you all know why he didn't attend the meeting yesterday.

There's no way the council would let him near a meeting with SISU that's minuted...

So in summary:
The council are refusing to even speak with anyone unless the legal action is dropped.
The council won't do anything to assist the club past what is required of them by law.
SISU have spoken to the council in the past about sites for building a stadium.
He doesn't know what is in the city and what is outside it.
The council have a very cosy relationship with certain fans groups.

Its the bit where he only sent somebody to accept the dropping of the legal actions that's also telling about him. No will to negotiate or take part in discussions to get to that point.

Its no wonder he keeps hiding behind fans groups and public opinion. Even on a pre recorded interview that's not testing he crumbled.

Get him on live and actually pressure him and point out his contradictions to see what happens

So fisherbaiter's council link and being a fellow director with Johnson is related after all ;)

I wonder if the phoenix club hints should be explored more ;)

There wasn't more than one interested buyer though. They were only interested when it was sold. They bluffed and lost. That's poker

Although actually what happened was the Council said 'come back and let's build some trust' to the club, and then immediately sold it in secret without either making any effort to build trust or to offer it to the club on the same terms.

So it wasn't poker, or monopoly, or selling a car, or renting a house, it was deception, plain and simple.

Incidentally, is there a physio on here? If so can you advise how to treat a badly over-stretched metaphor please, there are a few people struggling hereabouts. :)

The man is a complete joke. If he can't stand up to a bit of pre recorded questioning on local radio, how the hell is he fit enough to be a council leader? Just a complete shambles.

Julie Newman is the Council solicitor for family services, she deals with legal issues around care orders, adoption and fostering her Law Society areas of practice are Children, Family general law and Education. What exactly she brought to the party is anyone's guess. upload_2019-3-15_16-55-42.png

Duggins says it was because she has legal authority to accept sisu dropping the legals.

Cant blame her for going - surprised Duggins didnt ask her to pick up some shopping from Harrods for him whilst she was down there! Lacky! Dogsbody! etc etc

Ha I've just put it on.

He is just hiding behind the legals.

The solicitor went because she has the authority to accept sisu dropping the legals.

He sounds like he is going to pass out or has just run a marathon.

He says it wasn't a snub, it didn't need him to go.

He isn't in to gesture politics. (Strange, him chasing Aldi contradicts)

Erm the council's solictor has no authority whatsoever to accept SISU dropping the legals. Duggins is a liar.

May write to my Labour councillers asking them if they can't stage a coup and get someone vaguely capable as council leader. :) (not Lucas)

It's alright - in an unaired bit of the interview, he apparently said he was a lifelong City fan, being 10 or 11 in 1967. The Sky Blues are in his blood. Pretty much like Ann Gauloise-Lucas (Deputy-Mayor elect)

It was painful listening to that and judging by it i'm not suprised he didn't go to the meeting in westminster! He has completely shot himself in the foot saying the council have been approached by SISU about a stadium.. "hes getting sacked in the morning" springs to mind.

Would have loved to have the reaction back at the council as they were all sat listening to the interview.

Thought i was fairly up to speed with coucil shenanigans, but why is mentioning about SISU asking about sites previously making him look silly?
