They have also told the students to remove all notices in their windows, some had put things up saying “Boris Out”, “we want to go home” etc

I find it hard to accept that this is happening in the U.K. in 2020, these are very sinister times.

Be clear, it’s happening in the self proclaimed socially progressive paradise that is Scotland. At least Sturgeon has shown that bullshit up for what it is

Nope, Manchester from what I saw. Hang on I will find it, or at least debunk it.

Here- is this real? I hadn’t heard anything about Manchester to this point.

Look at what they’re getting up to in Glasgow. St Andrews also imposed restrictions on students before Sturgeon even gave the order

I will.

When you look at all these things in isolation you can maybe justify the individual steps. But when you compare where the country was a few years ago and where it is now, it’s virtually bloody unrecognisable- how it ended up like this I don’t know, but I would suggest that this is a pretty dark time in our modern history & god knows what happens next.

Sturgeon will always try and look tougher and stricter than Westminster - a blanket ban of all students in Scotland to go out into the community regardless of infections is extraordinary - armies will soon be patrolling campuses

Got to say that I wouldn’t be surprised to see the army out patrolling the streets in general soon by the sounds of it, very worrying times.

The point I’m making is when the Scottish nationalists bang on about ‘we are more socially conscious’ and ‘Westminster is the root of all evil’ that they are doing the same if not worse.

Sturgeon would love the opportunity to wear army gear and dictate policy - the Scots must be mad to want her in power

Don’t be fooled, they still can’t get over half the vote but the problem is the pro UK vote being split 3 ways

Does the Scottish devolved government even have the power to deploy the British Army? I think that’s the domain of the British government isn’t it. Your fantasy about seeing Sturgeon in khaki is obviously related to other issues.

If you wish to talk about Scottish independence there is a politics thread.
Or the potential toppling of the PM it is also there for that .
This thread isn't for dramatic hyperbole.

Anyway Coventry and Rugby galloping along with cases. Both are far outstripping Cardiff, that's hit local lockdown time

I get the need for this as we are in an unprecedented situation but to not give parliament the chance to debate proposed measures is sinister, you're right.

I’m not a Covid denier but I still think that the government has used it to comfort itself over just how much control it has over the people. And you have to say that the people seem more compliant than ever before. Maybe the brainwashing of social media supports this

I dunno, I can fully see why government has to move quickly, and has the full scientific advice at its hands - it's just who's been elected that's the issue!

Maybe the compromise is to be allowed to debate all measures, but allow government to act first? If they're valid measures, they'd get enough support from the opposition to keep them in place, regardless if extremist Tories.

Sadly Johnson is hardly a conviction politician and is obsessed with opinion polls like all modern day leaders. That’s why Thatcher would have been the best leader as she cared not a hoot about public opinion and would get her judgement on Election Day

Your suggested compromise seems fair though referring to your first paragraph I don't think anyone who was elected is behind any of this!

Everyone wants liberty and freedom .
So go catch it.
Especially if it is harmless to yourselves .
Do it in cluster's ,say across all uni campuses and across all schools at half term then you are released to eternal liberty and freedom .
That's quite a portion of population that are the future all with some form of resistance to future harm .

It’s ridiculous as it’s accepting we can scrap all peace time norms. This is not a wartime situation despite the rhetoric and kills a minute percentage of the country
