People voted for an incompetent lying charlatan because they wanted Brexit. That's fine, that's their decision and they were well within their rights to vote for him.

But the problem now is we have a lying incompetent charlatan in charge during the biggest health crisis in a generation.

Having Boris and Trump as world leaders is bad enough at any time, never mind in times of crisis. Trump trying to buy exclusive access to vaccines just sums that piece of s**t up.

While that may be true - it may be the less worse of the two options - Corbin is hardly a natural decision maker but became an expert for sitting on the fence and what we need today is decisions - they might not be the totally correct ones but without doing something - incorrect ones can be redirected rather than let everything sink into a pile of poo

It's not an unfair observation about Corbyn. Personally, it'd be great if we could keep politics out of it.

Small hope though. And I do keep thinking that this is some kind of Greek Tragedy where the populists campaigning on a ticket of ignore the experts find their strategies destroyed because people... ignore the experts.

But hey, let's hope it doesn't get that far.

We have left but are still tied by our laws/regulations/payments.

If we haven't sorted something out by the end of the year will we be tied in financially for more years? Because that was the main reason Boris wanted it sorted by the end of the year.

Oh I agree Corbyn is pretty useless too.

Like you say it was a case of lesser of two evils and for me the choice was Corbyn - because I utterly despise Boris and think he is totally unfit for any sort of senior government position, never mind Prime Minister. It absolutely baffles me how he is able to get away with such barefaced lies every time he opens his mouth.

ps agree that communication needs to be clearer and more regular, which sounds like it’s happening with the planned daily briefings (as long as it doesn’t risk widespread panic - I still think most of the country are keeping relatively calm, it’s hopefully just a relatively small number of idiots behaviour and the media/social media that’s whipping up a frenzy)

The govt have made a total fucking mess of this so far, and politics is irrelevant, they need to get it right. I wouldn't care if it was Corbyn or Sreaming Lord Sutch in charge, the facts would be the same- and Corbyn making demands on twitter for rent deferrals etc just comes across as pathetic political games quite frankly- they are in charge and they need to get aligned and lead the country. Its not political to point out that Johnson & Hancock are letting the population down with the shambolic communication, thats just a fact.

It would be nice if this thread could go on without constant reference to how shit other countries are compared to us & bringing brexit of all things into it, I'd say its gone beyond that stuff now. But pointing out the failings of people who are failing is hardly "political". The people most vulnerable are mostly Johnson supporters, its arguably his main support base- so where is he now? Where was he until he realised he wasn't going to get away with doing his "hiding in the fridge" routine?

Agreed. It doesn't matter what Corbyn would do, it's no use saying Corbyn would do no better.

Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't, who knows. The fact is Corbyn is not in charge so he is totally irrelevant.

The current government is not beyond scrutiny just because the opposition are useless. And so far just about everyone in the world thinks their response has not been good enough, so they need to be held to account.
