Got a Chinese delivered last night (fighting racism through eating shite, my kinda activism) and Just Eat has a thing saying they’re not doing no contact deliveries.

When we got here he stood about a foot in front of me and held his bag open for me to reach in and get my food. Is it me or does that not seem any safer than the normal hand over? How did the food get in the bag? Hasn’t he been touching the bag that I’ve now been touching as well as my food bag? In fact isn’t this worse? I thought they were going to leave it on the doorstep.

Wouldn't surprise me. Just being able to look at 4 walls can affect you mentally. I would hate to be locked up with a partner in a bad relationship. It will be hard getting locked up with someone you get on great with. A lot of people are actually going to find out about the person they are married to.

I have always gone for a walk to calm down when my other half has wound me up. Calms the situation and calms me. I couldn't imagine not being able to get out of the situation.

I can see the divorce rate shooting up when it is all over.

Think it was a province in Wuhan that had 88 couples file for divorce the day lockdown ended.

It will happen in the next few days. A lot of people don't see social gatherings as a problem.

The 80% pay is for a reason.

The good thing about a lockdown is people are less free to empty the shelves in the shops. So food items should be more available.

I have the opposite problem. Don't know when the wife and kids will see me next. Don't even know if it will be this year. Then when the time comes I would need to know I could get back to England.

At the moment the country has been on lockdown for a couple of weeks and for the most part it’s being taken seriously compared to before but over this week 40,000 have been caught out for no valid reason and fined.

There is no plan to isolate the elderly but everyone is supposed to stay at home and only go into the shop closest to where you live (alone). The problem is that the hospitals and ICUs are so stretched that treating people is being done based on their age.

In Bergamo the army were out transporting coffins as there is now nowhere to keep them, it’s beyond depressing.

Apparently they think we are approaching the peak but Verona could be one of the next hotspots as there has been a sudden increase in cases and deaths here too.

My partner and her family are doing ok thanks for asking. She is currently very stressed working in the hospital and she often has to stay at her parents’ due to where her job is based (up in the mountains) and her dad has vetro high blood pressure so is considered high risk, especially due to her job.

Technically she isn’t supposed to do her journey but has been doing it but it looks like they’ve got more restrictions coming in which would make it even more risky for her to travel, so it’s all a bit shit really.

The lockdown is currently due to end on the 3rd April but I reckon the 2nd May is more realistic.

My worry is Spain though as from what I can tell it has the possibility of ending up worse than here. Seeing

Seeing it from the outside it seems the UK is heading towards a tragedy, I’m genuinely very worried about it. I admit that I was not taking the situation seriously a month ago but after this year people there should be taking it seriously and the government trying to protect its people more.

Wife was in bits at first but has now got used to the idea. I spend a quarter of my time with them usually. Been back less than 2 weeks since last visit. Normally 52 days here 18 days France. So no difference for over 5 weeks to normal so far. I need to be here for my job. The bog rolls we make are more valuable than gold at the moment

Have you considered what you will do when lockdown is brought in? You most probably won't be allowed to visit.

It is worse for you because of where you live. Most people couldn't even imagine what you are going through. I have an idea as I get daily reports from the wife. But the virus hasn't taken hold there.

You can always put him on ignore.

I'm the reverse.
Mum's in her 70s on her own.
Sister's family down in Devon.
Speaking everyday but would have liked to pop back and check everything but with the border hassles can't guarantee I'd be let back here and can't leave my wife for long with her health issues.

Consider this: Who are the essential workers ?
Doctors, nurses, IT, care & support workers, food delivery, cleaners, supermarket staff ......apart from the medics & IT, basically a large number of lowest paid people in our society.
I don’t see solicitors, investment bankers, marketing experts, etc on the essential list.
At the end of this pandemic it might be time to reconsider our priorities.

Teachers too But yes, it will quickly be realised among the more rational of us (i.e. not Grendel) that the salary paid to someone is no reflection of their self-worth - indeed by the key worker logic, there is an inverse relationship between salary paid and the criticalness of their work. Hopefully it also makes people in fraudulent jobs such as 'healthcare business consultants' take a long and hard look at themselves...
