On the face of it numbers still going in the right direction. Number of tests down which might just be the effect of less people having symptoms and applying for a Pillar 2 test.

Does make you wonder how much better it would have looked if we'd done this around October half term as suggested.

Can’t think of any group of people who deserve it more. Can’t imagine what it must be like going home knowing that you 100% have been in contact with people who have it and you might be bringing it back to your loved ones.

A sudden spate of cases in my OH's school across quite a few different year groups, but no closure or whole groups being sent home just yet. Will clearly be a case of soldiering on to the Christmas holiday but as people get more tired and worn down this was always going to happen.

Its going to end up a mess. Pubs in tier can only open for meals but music venues can open for gigs. They were told no alcohol sales but that's now been changed.

Upshot is live in tier 2 and you can't go to the pub for a pint but you can go to a gig and get shitfaced.

It's just luck inthe end, you can greatly reduce your chances of catching it but you still can.

i don't know for sure as he hasn't been tested to my knowledge, just assuming that's all, just find it abit weird that these high profiles are getting it and they are taking the max precautions and have been in bubbles and doing the max and still getting it.

just a thought.

You come into contact with quite a lot of people during the course of your job as an F1 driver, however.

They're still allowed to follow the same rules as the rest of us outside of that, too.

It's not a thought it's an implication of something you won't outright say because you know it's bullshit.

It does seem like you are implying there is something fishy that a famous person has caught the virus when your mate hasn't when in fact it's likely to just be the luck that your mate hasn't put his hand onto a spot of live virus or that he was lucky enough to catch it and be a symptomatic.

Entirely this. The endless bullshit and insults to our intelligence. Remember “3 weeks to flatten the curve”?

We all know that it will be another 3-4 months of careful monitoring before any light can be seen

Just my opinion and nothing more than that, but I cannot help but think that some people have a genetic predisposition towards COVID and therefore more vulnerable to contracting it when they come into contact with the virus. Am not suggesting that other people are immune but I do find the Lewis Hamilton case curious, given that everyone he comes into contact with will have been screened and tested.

It would anyway, I for one would ignore the rules if they banned me from seeing my family at Christmas.

Isn't it just a case that the high profile lot are more likely to be tested on the reg, so you hear about them getting it. Like Prince Charles and what have you. I think if you have a hole in your arse you have the same chance of getting it as the next person.

Exactly, they know a percentage of people will ignore certain rules hence them giving leeway on Christmas. I just hope there’s very clear messaging around reducing risk and asking people to display some common sense. Already few mates and I have decided it’s not worth the risk to see elderly relatives over Christmas, I’d imagine plenty will do the same, however, it should be each families own choice. The key to keeping better control of virus is probably what happens with uni students though.

There’s no point getting wound up with this ‘scotch egg’ argument, most boozers won’t agressively enforce the rules, nor will the police. It will put certain people off going (remember it’s in conjunction with no households mixing in pubs anyway) and that might be enough for government/scientists

They’ll just stick everyone (almost everyone) in T3 so it will be all but a national lockdown anyway
