Chelsea - they couldn't, could they!? (59 Viewers)

On the night we were winning the league, Rosenior was shitting the bed with Chelsea.

He's slammed the players (usually the end of a manager!) and allegedly had said goodbyes to some of his staff!!

Could they tempt (want to tempt) Frank away from us!?

If they aren't careful they will go the same way as Spurs/Leicester.

No European football next year, very long contracts on big money, still losing massive amounts despite using up the old tricks (selling womens team etc)

I don’t think either party would be seriously interested at the moment. If we do relatively well in the PL then they and others would seriously consider FL, IMO.

The only job that I think he’d leave for at the moment is the England job.

If they were still owned by Mr Abramovich I would be worried, not so much now - He got a small taster for the culture around Chelsea when he did his interim stint in 2023 and he did not like it, it does not seem a whole lot has changed either

They differ to spurs and leicester in that they have some fabulous players that would command big fees

His stock would go down overnight if he left, and he knows it. He doesn't need the Chelsea job as he is being touted as the next England manager.

For over a billion pounds spent I think their squad is pretty garbage tbh

I would say Reece James, Enzo, Joao Pedro and a fit and firing Palmer would even touch any elite squads

Yes but the difference is the fee's they could recoup

The likes of Caicedo, Estevao, Fofana, Hato would all go for decent fee's

True

They are all tied down on ridiculously long contracts mind, Mudryk for example still has 5yrs left on his deal, he has not kicked a ball in nearly 2 years and was signed in 2023, they have only just managed to get Sterling off the books

No incentive for these players to want to leave

Yes the amount of players on their books is their biggest concern

I think if they asked him he would seriously consider it and depending on what it was and what he could negotiate he would go and to be fair it might suit his family and personal life better - not so much travelling

He is going to go then it would be a mission accomplished as far as going up - the more i think the more i believe Chelsea will approach in May

On his talksport interview last night he said that he learnt a lot from his second stint at Chelsea about going to a club with a proper setup. My only hope that he wouldn’t go back there

I'd imagine he would be sorely tempted to give it a 3rd go due to Chelsea fan pressure but he'd have to balance against that the fact that his stock is currently sky high with the outstanding job he's done with us.
It would be a highly tempting situation if/when there is a vacancy at Stamford Bridge....

Think we'll get another season with Lampard, and then who knows.
I'd imagine he'll want another crack at Chelsea at some point, or eventually England

Do I think Chelsea will go for Frank a 3rd time? No.

BUT

There is a tremendous level of delusion in this thread from people who think Frank wouldn’t jump ship immediately if Chelsea did come in for him. Chelsea are his club, he’d be quadrupling his wages, he’d be closer to home etc etc. Add to the fact that any top 6/8 finish would be an improvement for Chelsea next season and it’s a no brainer.

If we wants to be looked at as a serious manager going forward he will not even look at them and they would view 6-8 as abject failure

Thing is he won’t be there forever and no club is going to touch him if he keep fucking off whenever there’s a vacancy at Chelsea.

The fact it is his club etc would certainly have to be a huge pull for him . A lot less travelling and more home time shouldn’t be ignored either. I think they’ll go for the Bournemouth manager personally but whoever they get is on a hiding to nothing wit their current owners

They won't, Iraola will be going to Athletic Bilbao next season

Knowing Chelsea they'll bring in the current Strasbourg manager - Gary O'Neil!

Problem is I actually think he'd be perfect for them this time around. Id like to think his pride will mean he won't go back after being let go twice! Id only really worry if the England job came available at the moment
Lampard would be perfect for Chelsea, but Coventry City is perfect for Lampard. He loves it with us and there's no pressure on him here like there would be at another big club. Even if we got relegated he would still keep his job with us.

I was out celebrating last night with Sunderland, Newcastle and Villa supporters. The Villa supporter told me that they had to sell their best player before this season started because they never made it into Europe. It's a totally different pressure for the top sides.

Similarly, Newcastle were forced to sell Elliot Anderson to Forest to satisfy PSR rules, yet neither player nor Newcastle wanted it to happen.

Will be really interesting to see how Doug King, the fanbase/this forum handles any potential struggles next season.
Anyone being realistic knows it won't be easy next season, but depending on who comes in of course, I think we will survive.

King is a realist. He knows Lampard is good enough to get promotion from the Championship again and we would also have a better squad than now.

This forum? 😂😂😂 The reasons for our 'blip' were obvious. A bad flu bug went through our side. MVE was even being sick during games. We also had injuries and suspensions in a small squad. We kept top spot but you would have thought our season was over by some of the comments. Some will go mental next season.

How is it good for his career if he jumps ship to Chelsea at every opportunity? When he left Derby to join Chelsea, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity that you don’t turn down.

Likewise, it’s a dysfunctional club so he needs to wait things out. Lampard has mentioned that whilst he doesn’t regret going back for the second spell, he learned a lot and would do things differently.

In my view, if he is considered a truly elite coach, then go back. Both of his spells he did Chelsea a favour and they dumped him the moment it was convenient.
