If we pay £5m and get related we've paid £5m for nothing. What follows is total speculation on my part - so it’s probably nonsense - but I wonder if the way out of the impasse is a season-long loan to us with an obligation to buy if we stay up.
We could, for example, pay a loan fee of £5 million and have a purchase price of £25 million. I don’t think we would have much to lose because, let’s face it, if we buy him now and get relegated he will want a transfer to a Premiership team. With a second season in the top flight we will be better placed financially to afford the £30 million that Brighton supposedly want.
Personally I’d be happy with this.
Just my instincts as its a particular date
Who do we put in goal for 2 games against Brighton that Rushworth won't be allowed to play in?
I can't see him signing another contract unless he is going to be their No.1 GK. He's had enough of being loaned out. If he signs another contract without any guarantees he would be in the same position but until about the age of 30.Brighton wont sanction a loan unless he signs a new contract.

Half the journos are getting content straight off this site.I'll chose to wait for journos, who seem to have covered this transfer at every turn, rather than get a chub on from blokes posting 'today's the day' on here.
Sooooooo...... Andy Turner?I'll chose to wait for journos, who seem to have covered this transfer at every turn, rather than get a chub on from blokes posting 'today's the day' on here.

Of course if isnt a problem for us. It just wont happen. He will either stay there or be sold. No other options.@Balli001
I’m sure Brighton won’t sanction another loan unless Rushworth extends his contract with them but if he is happy to do that - which he may not be - it’s not a problem for us under what I suggested.
@Ccfcisparks
We may well be able to afford £30 million now but saving £25 million or whatever this season will enable us to strengthen the team elsewhere.
"undisclosed fee"I think we’ll end up paying a lot less than £30m
It always is."undisclosed fee"
It will maybe reach 30m with add ons but Brighton will probably brief the journos so that the 30m number is the one out there. Same happened with TchoaunaI think we’ll end up paying a lot less than £30m
And he may only be worth £25m or less if he doesn’t prove himself at that level. Or he could be worth £40m but we can’t capitalise on the profit because it goes to Brighton. Worst outcome is doing the wrong deal to buy IMHOIf we pay £5m and get related we've paid £5m for nothing.
If we pay £30m and get relegated we have a £30m asset on the books to move on.
A loan is the worst possible outcome.
This account only has a few thousand followers and it strikes me as unlikely that, if a deal was actually done, that would be exclusively slipped to them

Probably having a crack at this one because it more than likely will happen (eventually).Their other "exclusives" have not come to pass or been reported anywhere else
They're taking a punt, no one will remember if they are inaccurate and if they guess right they can point to the story as being because they're ITK.Probably having a crack at this one because it more than likely will happen (eventually).
