Don't think we'll be doing that somehow.

I'm hoping we move in for Danny Rose now. Reckon he'd be a decent signing. Perhaps not as prolific but he's got a few good attributes to his game from what I've seen (minus throwing himself to the floor on minimal contact)

Just like to say all the very best to Mark and say thanks for the season he and the team gave us . See some posters on here think Reading will pass us in the opposite direction at the seasons end . I don't see this happening their problem seemed to be lack of goals and if he only scores half this season they will be a safe mid table side at least £1.5 million well spent. I am one who likes Eisa and think if we could get him for around the same fee good business . Adge why is Stevenson a halfwit ? He was not being played by Robins so he moved to a club going up to the premier league who have seen something in the guy, might well get a game or two even if only as a sub not bad going for a kid we were not playing good luck to him as well .

Why not? the guy scored 5 goals last season only getting bit parts in games got great positional skill when played in a central role instead of wide where he was asked to perform Like i've said before given a fair crack pre season I think you will see more than a bit part player this year.

For crying out loud! And to cap it all, you've only got one "p" in opportunity.

I meant I don't think we will be pinning as much on Ponticelli as you suggest. He will continue to grow as a footballer yes but I doubt we'll get him to fill McNulty's boots.

I have to say, as much as it hurt my two boys and deflated me a bit earlier... he just earnt himself a four year deal at most likely pretty decent wage ( even if it wasn’t that much better than ours ) with a chance to prove himself at the second higher level of football in the UK.... can’t blame him for that guys.

He will be 30 by the time that ends & if he looks after the money right he can st himself and his family up , and isn’t that what we all just want to do ?

He could have folded after not scoring for so long for us last season, he didn’t , he manned up & played on and came good.. no doubt without him we don’t go up

Time to say thank you and goodbye Marc... onwards we rise without him

In robins we trust....

I'll be stunned if he's still either a Reading player or a Championship player by the end of that four year contract

We either need a striker who can score 15 goals or a new goal-keeper who will let in 15 less than Burge will.
Or even better, both.

Meh, it's always the end of the world when we lose a favourite player but then we find a new one, move on. From his point of view he might find the grass isn't always greener when moving away from the Sunday league of last season.
Good luck to him though and thanks for his contribution to a hugely successful season

Do we replace them? McNulty is only the third 20+ goal a season striker we have had since we got relegated from the Premier League 17 years ago and only the 2nd we’ve actually owned!!
At Coventry City we seem to have low standards when it comes to strikers - whereby 15 goals a season is classed as a good return. It’s not, it’s shite. I’m sick to the back teeth of us signing strikers like Leon Best and Clinton Morrison that are held as ‘fan favourites’ with 11 goals a season and we’re then linked with resigning in the telegraph every year for the next decade.

McNulty is a massive, massive loss for us. 1.2 million doesn’t buy you 20+ goal a season strikers in League 1 and Robins won’t get a penny of the money. He’ll get 5k extra towards the weekly wage pot and told to fuck himself.

I do have every confidence though that Robins can find the right man to score goals for us and even if they’re unproven or don’t have a great record, I have every confidence he can get them scoring. Good luck to McNulty, even though it’s a shame that he’s walking away after last season and all the memories but it’s Robins that’s got the master plan.

Bit disappointed - only stayed one season. Could have given us one more before he left. He obviously helped us massively, but we helped him by giving him the opportunity.

Anyway , fingers crossed we find another goal scorer.

He did a good job for us and yes of course we would have liked to have kept him; but that is football.

We should has some finance now to go and buy a replacement. Let watch this space.....

Isn’t that exactly what we were told after we sold Maddison? What was that money reinvested in- Darius Henderson and Stephen Hunt?

I’m not saying everything is about SISU - I’m being realistic and in the last 6/7 years next to no money from player sales has been put towards transfer funds. ‘Investing in the wage budget’ will not replace a 28 goal a season striker.

Also - Putting your post in capital letters doesn’t add any extra credability to your post, it just makes you look like a red faced, middle aged bloke typing aggressively into his desktop keyboard.

While I know our fans will be disappointed, I can assure them that we have received a more than acceptable bid for Marc and that the money will be invested in the playing squad.

What's the deal with transfer windows this year? Is it no loans outside the window? Is there still a January window?

MM didn't really want to play in L2 last season until he was convinced by Robins and Doyle to give us a chance and probably told his stock would rise with a good season. Last season worked out for both player and the club with promotion.

His agent has got him a decent deal at a Championship club. In the hierarchy of football that is the better deal for him. We are playing L1 football next month. More money, higher level etc. You can't hold it against him.

He doesn't owe us anything and we don't owe him anything. Last season worked for both parties and now we go our separate ways.

He will go down as the top goalscorer for that one season in L2. He will soon be forgotten when we find a new exciting goalscorer to get us out of L1.

We got him on a free and sold him for a £1m+. Robins said he gets the transfer money to make the squad stronger. You can bring in a couple of brilliant players in L1 for that.
