If we can I would loan him out for a season - not with an option for the other club to buy him - and see how he develops.

I think with the right coaching and mentoring he could turn out to be a good player.

At this point, I don’t think there’s a way back for Bassette. Whatever he’s done, it seems to have really rubbed Lampard and his coaching staff up the wrong way.

Bassette started most of Lampard’s first 11 or so games and now he’s not even getting on the bench for a League Cup tie where all the starters were rested.

It’s not looking good and frankly, signing 2 strikers last summer was a big mistake.

He should be motivated to make the effort to reinvigorate his career, if he isn't he will never be a valuable player.

Think its hard to say no way back when we have zero clue what has happened but its not great to be bombing out players. Seems a bit old school and that's what we're supposed to have moved on from with a fleet of staff to solve every problem.

dont agree, i think wright normally would have been rested if he was fully fit, so gave wright game time.
arguably it seems obikwu is in over bassette, but i dont think bassettes cov career is over.

You’re not wrong. Equally, when a player is frozen out this badly, it makes you think what has he done to have gone from 1st choice to 5th choice in 8 months.

My impression is that Bassette believes he’s better than he actually is at this moment and probably believes he should be playing. I don’t see how he supplants BTA, Simms or Wright and in fairness to Bassette, he’s at a stage of his career where he needs game time to thrive.

Intuition says he’s really annoyed the coaching staff and they’ve frozen him out. He’s not injured and was even frozen out of preseason games…

Do you think Bassette is happy being 5th choice? Obviously not. He will want a move away.

Common sense is saying that if he’s not being selected in preseason nor a rotated LC game when there’s no injuries or suspensions (Wright was out for Betis and he was still not selected at all), it paints a picture that he’s being punished for something and/or being bombed out.

he prob has done something, but we have no idea. id rather it be him being punished and he needs to improve, rather than just being bombed out for no reason.

im sure we'll never find out, but would love to see him bang in goals on loan somewhere.

His attitude is dire on the pitch.

Lampard lost it when some game last season in the dying seconds (Portsmouth?) when he faked a dive and rolled around feigning a bad injury. The ref could have stopped the game and Thomas scored in the follow up.

Wasn’t his attitude questioned at his last club?

Speculation, obviously, but there's nothing to suggest he's 'done' anything.

There's no reason to think it's anything more than not showing the requisite attitude to training or not responding in the correct way to not being selected.

They probably just think he's not trying hard enough / is sulking.

Starting to smack of the Bright scenario under Robbins.
talented player but terrible attitude.

Basettelast club he fell out with because he thought he should be playing when he wasnt and then slagged them off when he left. Leopard never changes its spots

Obviously it’s ‘speculation’ because Lampard isn’t going to air the dirty laundry in public.

Considering people said Simms was done here because he didn’t play v Sunderland or Hull… it’s much more serious for Bassette that he’s being left out of the squad in preseason.

This opinion is quite emblematic about how people view Bassette. There’s the hope he’s the next Gyokeres and because he’s high energy, people instinctively like that.

In reality, you can’t coach attitude and this is something Lampard has spoken about on podcasts and if his attitude stinks… the writing is on the wall for him.

To the above quotes, just read between the lines. This isn’t something that a quick loan will fix if the personal relationship is gone. The club will be looking to offload permanently one way or another (ok, that
speculation).

He’s also one to shout at other players and throws tantrums if he makes a run and doesn’t get the ball. Sometimes, the frustration was understandable, other times, he was running into bad positions.

People want to believe he’s the next Vik and unfortunately, he’s not.

Young player that has been left behind by other players and now by the look of it the coaches and manager. This will be resolved in the next 2 weeks, he will be moved on for the good of everyone.

Issue is we paid a fee, Doug wants to recoup and at the minute FL cant get a reaction he wants which makes it hard to get the value. Doug may have to be more flexible than he wants on this one, get him out on loan and hope Norm lights it up somewhere to get a return.

Let's not let facts get in the way of speculation. He's a winker we all know it.
