Still don't understand why the FL are getting so much grief for allowing the club to move out of Coventry though?

Basically you're saying that whatever people charge for the rent, whoever the owners are, ACL, Sisu,Otium, PH1V, that as it's the only suitable ground for League Football in Coventry that you'd have to take it even if it was £10million?

It's why clubs and grounds should always be indivisable.

Except the amount being offered was far, far less than £10m and wouldn't have been a permanent arrangement. Also, high rent wasn't the real reason we left the Ricoh, and all of us here know that.

To be fair Nick, this is what the League spokesman had to say about the award:

“The Football League Family Excellence Award gives clubs a standard to aspire to when planning their efforts to attract more families and young fans to their matches.
“It is hugely encouraging to see so many clubs receiving the accolade, demonstrating The Football League’s ongoing commitment to securing the next generation of fans.”

How has playing in Northampton done that?

There is no comeback to that although nick and torchomatic will make a lame attempt shortly.

As they do on any post that blasts our excuse of owners. The facts are Andy Turner speaks for the majority and we know it. That award is nothing but a joke and a kick in the face for majority of fans. I wonder how they will aspire to grab the award again next season with even less fans.

Nope, I agree that wording makes it sound different to what I thought it was, which it might well be. I assumed it was based on match day experience so sorry if I was wrong.

I still don't get the comparison?

I don't understand how it's complicated,

This award is "“The Football League Family Excellence Award gives clubs a standard to aspire to when planning their efforts to attract more families and young fans to their matches."

and they obviously check if that is achieved by achieving certain goals, perhaps they are cheap junior tickets, ability to be a mascot and ballboy/girl, players go out into the community, free school tickets, and family events, so tick tick tick tick tick, heres your award ignoring the massive massive issue that completely goes against the entire spirit of the award and not only is not attracting more families but has absolutely devastated the number of them.

I was saying thats like giving an award for a clean beach because the water was clear, no litter and no sewage, tick tick tick award ignoring the massive massive issue of radioactive water from a power plant that makes the water unsafe and completely going against the spirt of the award. my appologies if my comparison was too complicated.

Surely that is a total fail! Or (more like) they are measuring the wrong parameters.

Again, I apologise as I thought it was about matchday experiences. Where as if they asked people on the beach, they would all be raging.

I thought it was a survey or secret shopper type thing

Bluntly, anyone who saw that the club had been given this award - in a season where games have been moved 35 miles away and home attendances have been cut by 80%-90% - and didn't laugh out loud, simply has no sense of humour.

Is the match day experience award winning in your view? Considering that even Pressley and the players have come out and said it's an 'awkward' place to play football, that can't mean it's all that enjoyable.

To be honest, I haven't gone as a family and from what I have seen I wouldn't say it was up to much.

I don't know what questions were asked and what it was judged on.

With there being only a few people the kids have more chance of waving a flag for the players, or winning a prize off sky blue sam. Kids can get closer to the pitch and players so I'm not sure if that played a part but from my opinion, I wouldn't say it was award winning but if I took my daughter in the jsbs it may have been a different experience.

This might be where Torch could shed some light on it (no pun intended) since he takes his son along to games.

I have seen some of the kids be amazed because they can hear their heroes warm up, shout hello to them, get their autograph and stand pretty much on the pitch.

They should go running back to their parents with an autograph from clarke or christie like it was messi.

I am not sure if that would be anything to do with it but the only decent points from a family view.

Funny definition of hero ;)

You could do all of that at the Ricoh, a far better ground and with a lot more of your friends there who don't go to Northampton because their parents don't want to.

Because it's ridiculous that the criteria can't take things like our situation into account, it's like winning a clean beach award because you tick the box for low litter, no sewage and crystal clear water oh but the local power plant pumps radioactive water out onto the beach, no matter.

ccfc might have ticked the football league boxes but the simple fact of the matter is we are the worst club in England to support this year for families, a few familys might be happy but 90% of them arn't so it's a complete utter farce to award them for it.

Farce or not, they ticked the boxes, regardless what the league spokesperson said, they scored enough points on the criteria to get the award. I'm not saying it's right in our situation but once they meet the criteria then the FL have no option but to issue the "award"
Yes the league spokespersons comment make the awared farcical but it's obvious that when coming up with the tick boxes to aim to measure the criteria they never thought about a club playing 30 odd miles from its home. It's no big deal. Fans that go will carry on going, fans that don't go won't go.

To be fair, you couldn't get as close to the players. I'm not saying that sixfields is amazing, just that for a kid it might be good

To some kids they will be heroes, which is strange but it's good to see it's still happening.

The club could easily organise pre/post-match events with the JSBs, it wouldn't be difficult at all, but I see your point.

Totally agree, that was literally the only good thing that kids might like at sixfields and was scraping the barrel but somebody like torch might have a different view as he takes his lad.

Have said all along they could have done so Much.more

The football league had no option? they have broken their rules multiple times this season in regard to us already. It doesn't seem like they have no discretion to me. Any award that involves ticking a few boxes and with no ability for discretion when something no in a tick box goes massively against the entire spirt of the award is not fit for purpose.

Of course you are right that really its no big deal, its not done us any harm, it's just the football league pissing on us while we are down, it shows how incompetent they are and gives even less hope for a happy solution.

Funny as an adult maybe, but not for kids. My son sleeps with City programmes under his pillow he is that obsessed by the clubs and players. For him Baker, Wilson, Fleck, etc are his heroes. And that's fine by me.

And Nick is right although the stadium obviously isn't as imposing, etc the experience for kids (at least for mine) is good as they can get right close to the pitch.

Interesting. With the current hysteria reaching epic proportions I got the distinct impression that people were "awarding" this to SISU rather than the Club. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been any moaning, would there?

Interesting.

Most see it as an award to CCFC. Yet you see it as an award to SISU :thinking about:

Which is why the comment was made. Astute was not astute enough to see it.

I don't remember idolising any of our players when I was growing up, and that's when they were actually any good. Scrooge, humbug, bah, etc.

As I have said SISU is our club and our club is SISU when it suits. But when it can be used as a dig they are separate.

So are they the same or totally different?

This might come as a shock. Some kids do.
