Why is it always about what others say?

"opinion"
"think"
"views"
"if somebody else says"

The fact you keep saying "new club" shows it is a different club.
As a continuation of the old club.

If 2 new clubs are setup, which one is the continuation? Who decides? Is there a vote?

We have agreed that it isn't the same club, it's now onto the "continuation" bit.

Surely it would Depend on whether the regulators of all the competitions (The FA and the football league) recognise a new club as the 87 winners of the FA Cup, the 17 winners of the checkatrade.

If the history is allowed to be officially tacked on to a reformed club, then it would be the same

It wouldn't be. That's a given I think.

If the FA decide that a new club can be "Coventry City FC", have all of the history and they manage to get the rights to the club (badge etc) then it would be CCFC. I'd have no issue with that even if it meant going to play in National League North at the Butts or something.

I'm sure that has never happened, Nick and wouldn't happen here in this scenario either.

Although if Robinson, as former chairman and major shareholder, can't even be bothered to respond to a letter about the club, it shows just how useless he is and has been wrt the club. You'd think he'd have at least a pang of conscience that would make him want to

He's never been that responsive. Both he and Nadhim Zahawi were the only two that didn't bother to reply. If anyone is from their constituencies make your feelings known. They were voted in to look after your interests.

I have never cared for Robinson and it has always puzzled me as to why he is in the Labour party. He's a champagne socialist.

Is the badge trademarked?

@Otis you are well within your right to go and support any reformed club and value it the same as you do city. Others are just as right to avoid the new club if they want. It won't be Coventry City though, that will officially cease to exist upon liquidation.

Can't disagree.

Agree and have always agreed on that. It will officially cease to exist.

I'm not sure how it stands in terms of Trademark. I assume there are some sort of rights of using it though with clubs?

What would be to stop a new club being made called Coventry City FC, the badge and everything and starting in the lower leagues?

I think they have to be sufficiently different to avoid the debts of the old club being loaded on to the new one.

There must be some protection upon it surely.

The club need to grant permission to use it (although I doubt this lot are savvy enough or even car to pursue anything small fry related to the football). Over at L&W we have permission to use it on stuff, fairly readily and perhaps too easily given away to us, but thankful all the same.

Anyway, back on topic. Have the trust saved us from extinction yet? Should I wear my Sky Blue underwear on Saturday just in case?

I always wondered how FMC got away with it. Not just the CCFC badge but the brand badges as well.

I can understand if it was for a club like Rob says but for somebody selling the stuff it's different.

I can only assume they applied too and perhaps the club said "yeah whatever" not assuming it would be so successful. Still riles me that this is money that could have gone into the club if someone actually cared. I've bought loads from them, reasonably priced and great quality, but the club definitely missed a trick. Some has the old badge on too, not just the current version.

With brand badges I think they're genuine (eg adidas) apart from the extinct ones like Admiral. I assume they buy the plain version cheap and in bulk then have the badges embroidered.

The thing that makes it trickier is the other brands. They do sell retro shirts but they can't whack the Umbro, Admiral etc badges on without it being legit.

Not sure where it stands that the club have Nike and Avec supplying stuff. Not too sure they would be too happy if the club started firing out retro Hummel shirts.

Fair point, never considered that. Some of the non branded stuff (eg 69-72) version and other 70s kits could have been done I guess but take your point.

Anyway, any ideas on how to save the club? so we don't have to support a new incarnation of the club the meeting was set up to save!!!

Possibly a reason the club can't do it themselves, besides laziness. If they've got a contact with Nike / Just Sports I can't imagine them being too impressed if the club started selling loads of shirts from a different brand.

Do other clubs sell similar? Is it just our lot missing a trick or is there maybe more involved than we realise if its done officially.

As long as it's not trademarked you can use it however you wish. The FA and EFL have no say as long as it doesn't contain any profanities. The name can't be exactly the same. Let's hope we're a long way away from that though.
