Is the prize money for the Play-off winner not greater than 1st/2nd? They say its the richest prize in football so would suggest he/the club would profit more for a play-off win than a league win?

This is a joke right ?

The prize is the premier league revenues not the Wembley income !

The richest one off game is the play off final but the top 2 already have won that prize too.

Honestly dont get where this talk of Doug not backing Frank etc is coming from
He literally did a NYE article telling fans to support the team and stop moaning, and that this is the biggest opportunity of our lives. Stay with the team, stay till the end, support every player. These are his words.

I just don't get the panicking from people on here. There's no way in hell we don't sign at least 2 players to get us over the finish line. Promotion is worth about 180 million! He is not going to just sit back and think bringing Kai Andrews on is going to be enough. And yes I know every other post is Sparks winding people up.

Whether he backs Lampard or not remains to be seen, (my feeling is he will), but people really need to chill out and remember it's only....checks calendar.....January 5th!

Esse is a good start if/when he signs, looked a promising player in the Championship before with Millwall, has a point to prove dropping down to the Championship as he’s not getting much game time at Palace and he gives us options either side or in the 10.

Keep them coming.

What??!!
The prize money for the play offs is peanut compared to actually getting to the PL and the winners usually give their share to the runner up anyway.

It's the richest prize in football because winning that one off game gets you to the PL, something the teams in the auto slots have already achieved..
Yeah, all 3 teams will cash in on the big time money the following season, but champions and runners up will get a few hundred grand prize money. Whereas the play-off winners will get considerably more for TV rights, ticket revenue etc etc etc from the 3 play-off games. Hence why people dont call the Championship Champions the richest prize in football. They call the play-offs the richest prize in football.

Read what others have said on the subject.
It's just a phrase because the winner gets access to the richest of the PL based on that one game.

We will have actually made more from the play offs thsn Luton because the winners donate their prize money to the runners up

I also think that the 4 teams in the semis split the pot between them so there's not a great deal to be made from the plays offs themselves

Think I may have started this, sorry, I said I hope it isn’t Doug thinking finishing 3rd is good enough and gambles on we go up in the play offs , but if it’s esse coming in then he’s giving frank what he’s asked for,

I tried to give a "maybe, for this reason?!?" kind of reasoning. Now ive got a shit load of judgy replies saying "tHe PrIzE iS tHe Pl NoT tHe GaMe ItSeLf ThIcKo". I shan't fucking bother next time!

Surely nobody on here really thinks/believes doug bought the ground out of his own pocket? Yes, he's bought the club and offset the debts, but do you really think he bought the ground out of his own kitty? Come on, get real! Whilst he gets a lot of plaudits for making it happen, saying he cant afford to buy a few players because he bought the ground is way off the mark!

It looks as if a mortgage was taken out to buy the ground:

Odds on Raj-Sakyi happening as well? There’s noise on social media linking him to us again.
Saw a tweet from the journo Darren Witcoop who used to be with the Daily Mirror saying he thought it was one or the other. He said Rak Sakyi was a complicated deal... But he thought he would end up in the Championship in this window or something to that effect.

I think it's for the best!!
Make no mistake, King wants us to go up via the autos.
Whether he'll fund a push, we'll see, I think he will.
And ive not said anything other. Literally answering a question with a possibility of an answer. I never stated my answer was right, in fact if you go and read it again, the whole thing was full of question marks. So I was in fact answering somebody else's question, to somebody else's post, with questions. And made out like a fucking thick c**t for doing so!

Which I think is kind of what Doug has alluded to. Instead of paying endless rent, were now paying that rent money to a bank on a mortgage. For how much and for how long who knows, but its certainly better than paying rent to insects/the council/blues/frasers group!

Apologies, it was Ccfciparks!

The other points are still valid though.

Just feel that we have had consistent issues, not game breaking ones, but noticeable patterns around the types of targets we’ve gone for that mean we spend roughly what players are worth or a little more and transfers take a very long time and often we’re left at the end of windows feeling short.

It looks like we’re looking at loans this window so maybe we won’t have those issues, especially if it’s Edwards who is doing Austin’s job here in terms of identifying Esse. Same as if we went for someone from Chelsea. I’d just like to see Austin have better targets lined up. Especially as we’re going to have to buy an entire team pretty much in the summer.

I don't disagree but it's tricky until we know whether we have a modest budget to improve the squad to get promoted next season or a much bigger one to try and stay in the Premier League.
