It took Torp and EMC more than a year to settle in and become steady contributors, but people think we’d have no problem integrating five new signings into the team with only 20 games left in the season.
Grimes was signed and became an immediate key player for us.

Torp was in his fist week of preseason when we signed him and EMC looked good from Day 1, Robins just didn’t know what his side was!

Grimes on the other hand slipped in like he's always been here.

Not ALL players need a year to get up to speed.

Torp was from a different country and never played at the type of tempo the championship demands before. He also scored a worldie in his debut.
EMC made a step up in division and likewise from L1 to Champ, its not always duck to water.

Grimes adjusted incredibly quickly but I don’t remember many players slotting in as easily.

An extended period of time where new players are figuring each other out would be disastrous - just look at the way Robins’ teams started most seasons.

Only read the last page or so, but I think this is make or break for the current set up. if we fail to get promoted I would expect a big churn of players and staff. Could see Lampard walking while his stock is high, likes of MVE, Wright, Simms etc will attract interest from other clubs and we'll need to sell otherwise they walk for free in 12 months time.

Esse looks a really talented player, decent start to the transfer window if we get him in, couple more at that level would be a massive positive.

If Lampard didn’t get promoted this season, his stock will not be high. No team top at this point of the season has failed to go up.

We’re in this together and frankly, we’re in a much better position than the other teams.

That maybe so but I think it's a perfectly valid excuse for a drop off in performance with having a small squad to work with and the injuries and illness that have affected us.

I do think we'll spend and that we will go up btw. Would be foolish of King to get this close and not provide the extra funds to get us over the line.

Exactly, wobble or not they’d all swap with us, 20 to go and 11 wins and pick up a few points in the other 9 it’s a big ask for any team trying to catch us, one might but not 2, don’t know what all the panickings about. We’ve done enough to earn this little wobble, we’ll soon be battering teams again

Relatively happy with Esse. Main concern would be over his lack of minutes in the past year and what his current sharpness is like but seems like he’s been playing a little bit for Palace recently.

Calls for 5-6 new players are a bit mad. Realistically we need 2-3 support players who will enhance the squad without necessarily being guaranteed starters for the rest of the season. Trying to overhaul half the starting line-up while we’re top of the league would be mental, no matter how bad our form is.

Happily take another winger/10 and Dan Neil, think Neil might be great to bring on if Grimes is tired or to swap in for him if needed. Better than Eccles and Alan as an Option.
If we manage to get someone like Piroe as well then it will have been a great window.

We’re 100% going to go for it. You don’t have The Guardian write an op-ed about us saying we’re gonna ‘go for it’ and then do absolutely nothing.

We’ve got so far, there is no turning back this season. Some of the reactions to a downturn in form has been hysterical. I couldn’t imagine any other team in this division getting a higher points tally from those fixtures.

Get o nien in next, or Neil centre half and def midfielder… experience and absolute shit house, exactly what we need,
Neil, yes. O'Nein would be a nein from me though. Never been a fan of his. Hes certainly no better than Thomas or Kitch.

I definitely think we can improve defensively, and certainly if we go up I think we need 3 new defenders, just don't think O'Nien is the right player.
He’s not leaving Sunderland anyway, especially for us… always thought we could have done with a player like him, one of those annoying little bastards, he’d put a tackle in the first minute and get everyone up for it,

I like him, you don’t get to be shit and play 48 games for a team that went up,
I wouldn't say i think he's shit. Hes just not any better than what we already have. Hes also clearly not fancied in the PL by Sunderland so why would he be any better there for us?

He's barely settled in yet, after his first game I was sceptical but he's done alright since I think?
Yeah, I think he's fine. He's had a good start.

Unless we go up, we're fine at CB. Woolf played pretty much every game in a promotion winning side.
