    Things that annoy you

Why? I've never known an employer not recognise that people with responsibilities to drop kids off should not be expected into work at 9am on the dot

    Things that annoy you

I qualified my post sufficiently to recognise different circumstances, I know what it's like pal I walk a 3 year old and 18 month year old to nursery every day. The fact is that if you've got a child capable of walking to school within 10 minutes (which most primary and all secondary school...

    Things that annoy you

If you live a 10 minute walk from school the difference will be negligible

    Things that annoy you

Dropping them off at school means you're driving in the midst of the school run, it'll take no longer to walk home and drive to work from where you live.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

For somebody who purports to be a bit of a thinker, you're not reading what I am saying. I am saying that public spending is not dependent on tax income. Your post agrees with that. I haven't said that it means the government should just print money. Tax has a function but it is not to fund...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The government creates via the Bank of England the money, it does not need tax to do that. Taxes have other functions but they do not fund public spending.

They do not need to put up taxes to pay for anything. How do taxes pay for services already delivered?

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Has France got a media as dysfunctional as the UK... Here, it really is time the government went proactive and explicit in publicising the benefits of vaccination with reference to current hospitalisations and deaths. Eg (made up) "we've got X patients hospitalised in their 30s and they are 95%...

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

The JCVI aren't making decisions on a public health basis. Their remit is looking at the benefits for an individual against the risks. The numbers they published gave a reasonable explanation. As a wider point, not many people will have heard of the JCVI prior to the pandemic. Generally, the...
