    Backup RB or Experienced CB

Kitching can cover LB. Not ideal but he’d be more solid than JDS

    Backup RB or Experienced CB

Ideally an RCB who could also play RB. But if pushed, I’d choose CB. If Thomas gets injured, we only have Lati and I’m not convinced at all by him playing CB in a back four. I think he’d get targeted. At RB it seems like we have more options, even if none perfect.

    Transfer Rumour Bobby Clark

Bobby Clark is a brilliant prospect. I’d love him to play for us. No chance he’ll come permanently and tbf, despite how good he is, it’s pointless spunking serious money on a loan fee for him.

Fair enough. Let’s see what happens.

Agree that Burnley will prob be top 3 or 4. If Parker was better than 5-6/10, they’d walk the league.

He’s had some good squads but could have done much better with them, even if he did get them promoted. As an example, he took Bournemouth up in ‘22 but lost the plot and acted as though they were lambs to the slaughter. Gary O’Neil takes over and finishes lower/mid table PL.

Yeah but that’s like primary school negotiations

    Summer transfer window 2024

Also very odd if they’ve come out like this to say he’s not what they’re looking for. I mean, how long have they supposedly been tracking him but only now realise he’s not a good fit ? 👀

    Front 3 vs Stoke

I read that too and was surprised. He certainly looked pretty quick when he broke through and scored against us last season even if he wasn’t exactly in a foot race with anyone.

He’s generally got them playing on the front foot. Sure there’s exceptions and times where he screwed up. When we played them at home last season, they created quite a lot tbf. 3-0 flattered us a bit.

Burnley are the most difficult to assess for me. Their squad is much better than their PL points tally in 23-24 would suggest. They underperformed due mainly to Kompany’s stubbornness and refusal to be pragmatic. They actually did OK in the last couple of months. Now here they are with same...

    Cov for automatic promotion

Hard to be sure about Leeds until the end of the window. If they lose players like Jimmy Summerville and Bill Gnonto without time to replace they’ll struggle to match last season’s performance. Burnley, great squad but not sure Parker can get the best out of them. I think Luton will be...

    Front 3 vs Stoke

EMC, Simms, Saka Wright is a few weeks behind the others and should be eased back in.

If we sign a decent CM and RB/RCB, even I might start getting carried away.

Centre backs with a pronounced right sided beer gut is a niche market. Expect to pay a premium.

    Cov for automatic promotion

We should be in the play offs. For the autos, a lot of things need to happen: - New signings click - New coaching staff gel - Defence learn from experience - Parachute teams underperform - Bit of luck But it might just happen….

What about our Leaky Defence ?

I’m not surprised that we conceded more last season than we did in 22-23. The players and formation were different for the most part and don’t forget the average age was much lower. For me, the first test is for the team to show that the end of season collapse in form is totally out of the...

when was the darkest era for the club?

When I was a lot younger, I used to think our low point was the way we fell apart in ‘91-92 after a good start and only surviving by the skin of our teeth, almost incapable of scoring. Obviously I didn’t know I was born. But the slow motion shitshow which unfolded between late Richardson and...

    Viktor Moving on

No doubt Sporting would consider dropping below their self imposed minimum valuation. The gap between this valuation and what they paid was so large that unless Vik had a storming start, they’d always have had to consider dropping the valuation if they wanted to cash in. Sounds like they’ve done...
