    Summer transfer window 2024

McNally was great for us and filled a Hyam sized hole. Had a couple of iffy games himself and hasn’t looked as good in a back 4 this year (tbf could be many reasons for that). Thomas is a proper old school monster centre half. Better on the ball than McNally and has a big match personality...

    Football Ground Entertainment

Haha. I remember that too. Can’t stand forced entertainment. Why would you turn up early for it? I’d always rather have a beer and get to my seat just before kick off. At half time, I’m busy checking scores and trying to get served. Talking of which, I heard the Wycombe chairman talking a...

    Callum O'Hare

The more I hear about Leicester’s predicament, the more I’m expecting he’ll be going there. They’ll have to sell players and rebuild with lower value players and frees. KDH as one of their young homegrown talents will be a prime candidate to be sold. COH is as close as you can expect to find...

Ben Wilson comments on Simon Moore insta good bye

Just had a Google to see if Moore was being linked to a new club. Anyway, I found this article which was, shall we say, badly researched and a tad optimistic about their man’s prospects. https://www.islandecho.co.uk/simon-moore-hoping-to-be-playing-premier-league-football-again-next-season/...

    Hadji Wright's Winner at Wolves

That Torp goal was something else. What to compare it with? Sol Campbell’s disallowed goal v Argentina is the closest I can get to. But actually, to be at Wembley, as underdogs, having played crap for most of the game, go 3-0 down but turn it round in the last seconds…….Campbell’s doesn’t come...

    Summer transfer window 2024

Agree that after his experience here, he’d think twice about moving so soon and possibly having another tricky bedding in period. With a big price tag in the PL, there’d be nowhere to hide. You never know though. Young English goalscorer from a PL acadamy…… if someone offered silly money, the...

    Liam Kitching

Probably true that our defence was purchased with a different system in mind. I don’t think Lati was brought in to play CB in a back 4 for example. But Kitching is significantly quicker than Doyle which points to his use in a back 4 - less need for cover (if he performs at the level he did...

    Callum O'Hare

It feels like we’ve been managing for 2 years, largely without COH. The club rehabbed him but didn’t offer him a new contract while injured. Why would they? Cuts both ways. Could he have tried harder last few months? Probably but if he got a serious injury, he wouldn’t have a pot to piss in. I...

2023/2024 Second Best Season of All Time

Not much to pick between this season and last. Both are the best since we dropped out of the PL. Before that, 86-87 (obvs) Other than that, I can’t pick between 97-98, 99-00 and 92-93. All had their ups and downs but I’d be tempted to pick 92-93 from the PL era.

    Da Silva

I struggle to see how he’s ever been seen as a defender. Maybe in young age group football. But as a Senior pro, he gets owned too often by bigger, more aggressive wide players. He is alright at getting forward. He is brave in possession and has good technique. Being small and a bit tricky has...

    Concerned now

Love Sheaf but if he goes, so be it. I won’t be bitter about it as long as the fee is respectable {£10m+}. He’s done a great job for us and seems a decent lad who just wants to get to the highest level he can. Better to sell him now than in 12 months when he’ll be in his late 20s with 1 year...

    Gyokeres Deal Details

I know what you mean about Chelsea but if they sell Gallagher and palm a few off to Saudi, there’ll be funds. Silva will be off the wage bill. It’s possible. A new Liverpool manager will want a marquee signing, especially if they can still get a good fee for Salah.

    Gyokeres Deal Details

If he does leave Sporting, while they could accept below €100m it will be very close to that figure I reckon. There are not many ‘top’ number 9s out there and Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have form paying those kind of sums. Aside from being a beast, he’s got goals, assists and doesn’t get...

    Matty Godden

Big respect to Godden. Those goals he scored in tight games against the stronger L1 teams (Ipswich, Sunderland, Portsmouth & Rotherham) helped get us over the line to promotion. Bit like when Cantona scored in a load of 1-0 games for Man U when they overtook Newcastle to win the prem. Chipped...

Player of the Season top 5

Sheaf MVE Thomas Wright Bidwell If it was based on the second half of the season, Simms would be in. Eccles has now established himself as a decent championship player. Just not quite top 5 material for me (yet).

    Liam Kitching

When he’s on form, Kitching is a good counterbalance to Thomas who has more raw defensive qualities. Kitching at his best is the kind of player who is in the right place at the right time and/or gets a foot in to nick the ball rather than making a showy tackle. He can fizz really nice balls in...

    24/25 changes?

CB is quite complex for us as it stands. So ideally, we play a back four and let’s keep in mind that very few left footed CBs have made it in the RCB position. Ok so let’s assume we can sign Binks (good intelligent player, good on the ball and in the tackle, needs work on positional play imo)...

Match Thread Coventry City - Hull City Match Thread - Wednesday 24th Apr

Thomas has quite a few rough edges but he’ll come good. We were never buying the finished article. Same with Kitching although we paid a hell of a lot for him. Young, left-footed ball playing CBs are at a premium. Don’t forget Bologna will want £3-4m for Binks. On Kitching, he looked really...
