Match Thread ⚽️ Watford vs Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 5th Nov

_ to be fair, there are a lot of positive comments about City on the Watford forum. They think they should have won, but the consensus is that we’re a decent unit.

    Mike Ashley

I was talking to a Newcastle fan the other day, and mentioned that we have had very little investment in the team for many years. He said, tell me about it, it was awful when Ashley was at the toon. . I asked him how much they had spent on Joelinton during Ashley’s watch - £40milion!! He was a...

    Local football

You would think so, left Aberdeen for Salford, who at the time were outside of the ‘football league’, so presumably that was about money? Says he wants to get involved in coaching youngsters.

    Oggy

I met Phil Neal at a hotel near Sheffield when we were playing Wednesday midweek, and he was our Manager. He was great, thanked my wife and I for coming to support the team. Seem to remember we lost….

Me too. Cov v Sunderland, FA Cup 5th round, 25 March 1963. Won 2-1.

    Bob Wesson

A good goalkeeper who never let the team down. Replaced by the exceptional Bill Glazier, but a good servant, who was in at the start of Jimmy Hill’s Sky Blue revolution. R.I.P. Bob.

I’ll be in the Hull end with a friend - also my first time there.

On that note, Jak Harrison just released by Kings Lynn.

    Pitch invasions

In terms of how to stop it, presumably making clubs play behind closed doors, and imposing significant points deductions for transgressors, may have an impact?

    Coventry Fans On The Road

Ps. Did anyone see the BBC2 programme on Two Tone last night? Excellent, particularly the footage of early Specials and Selector concerts, and the social comment around Cov in the 60’s/70’s.

    Coventry Fans On The Road

I went to King Henry’s in the 60’s, it was a massive rugby school. Peter Rossborough was head boy, and Peter Preece was a contemporary, both future England internationals. Duckham also went to that school. Cov rugby were huge, my Dad was a keen rugby player, and although City were my first love...

    Match Thread Forest Match Thread

Last night was a microcosm of our season. On top and playing good football for the first 25 minutes, lack of composure in the final third and missed chances, followed by Forest scoring a pretty poor goal against the run of play. Second half the same, then we concede. We still had the odd chance...

    If Callum O’Hare……..

    Ha! He didn’t last night!

    If Callum O’Hare……..

Grendel always posts positively about O’Hare. Quite rightly, although like all of our players, he’s not perfect, but he is integral to the way we play. What I also like about him is that he never drops his head, and despite the missed chances (which will hurt him more than anyone on this forum)...

Yes, and the home he lives at are very happy to receive cards for him.

Matty godden championship record at coventry

To be fair, the goalkeeper made a good save for Gyokeres second chance. He didn’t do anything wrong with that chance.

Match Thread Hull city (H) 16/3/22

The time wasting in the Championship is appalling, and worse than in the Premier League. I watched the last 20 minutes of Arsenal/Liverpool, 2-0 to the away side, as in our game, and Liverpool got on with the game far quicker than Hull did. Having said that, we got what we deserved tonight...

Match Thread Sheff Utd (H) 12/03/22

I actually like the fact that we don’t practice ’shithousery’. We didn’t like the way Preston ‘played’ against us, but then moan because we don’t do it ourselves. Obviously it’s a professional game and ‘managing’ the game is part of it, but I want to see my team playing the game in the right way.
