technically puts them 2nd with automatic promotion so they're bound to love it. :)

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

sounds like a school ports day where everyone gets a medal. F1 dumbing itself down to make it more competitive. Supposed to be the elite of motorsport yet intent on dragging leading teams back to a lower level rather than making lower teams improve.

    Most Shocked About A Result

Every time we beat Liverpool in the 80s was a shock. Finally beating Villa was a shock (been going for 14 years before that finally happened) Seen a load of "bad" shocks but Sutton had to take the prize

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

First of many I fear. EFL clubs need to be using this time as a collective to plan for a sustainable future for all members - not waste time appeasing a handful of selfish clubs.

Think there's more than a few in for shock when they realize the Championship market is going to shrink. Already clubs trying to negotiate wage cuts for next season if it starts BCD. - not just gate money but corporate sponsorship etc will be missing. Plus can see this 15-20m salary cap being...

all relevant players technically under contract until June 30th?

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Going to get to the end of the season and some sides that miss out on play-offs or get relegated going to be bleating "it wasn't fair as some games had weakened sides." etc. No incentive/point in mid-table clubs in any Division overworking their players now if they've already got one eye on...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

so fatigue suggests the "preseason" wasn't long enough. Also it's a fact that periods of fixture congestion like Xmas see a spike in injuries and players are going to have to replicate that sort of workload. Jogging/running might be okay for the aerobic side but the muscular side will have...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

getting silly. Get to 36 games, bottom 3 adrift and there's a spike - relegation cancelled?? All this hype about all the games on TV etc. Who wants to watch Bournemouth-Norwich or Brighton-Watford if there's nothing riding on it? All the talk of football solidarity in a time of crisis shown...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Just don't see out of contract players extending if training is as little as 2 weeks. 5 weeks training in Germany has led to a 250% increase in injuries. Players just can't afford the risk of being injured and out of contract when the new season starts. Championship clubs already claiming...

That makes more sense. So bringing them back in would restart the wage responsibility.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

clubs normally return July 1st for preseason. I think the point for the financially struggling clubs is that they would have the opportunity to budget for next season if this season was curtailed (with the assumptions about BCD/reduced attendances etc. ).

but they are basically on a normal "closed" season fitness program. Needs gearing up same as normal pre-season which is around 5 weeks. Players normally get around 6 weeks off, they've been "off" far longer than that now. Bundesliga already saying muscle injuries up 250% after 3 games back due...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

We are way behind PL. They'll have a week or so fitness followed by a month (most sides) of contact training to get to their start. We'd be at least a month behind plus they don't have play-offs to fit in. Players need 5 weeks to get ready same as any other season - if not more in this...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

For all the talk of L1 form and fixtures either side of this break the Bundesliga has seen advantage of home games dramatically dissipate and injuries up 250%. Latter being blamed on "unusual preseason" and fixture congestion.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

so we would start a week before the rest to get the Wycombe game out of the way. (then Posh start praying for a spike after that game is done :) ) Still hard to see a League 1 resumption before mid-July if all other leagues that have restarted or are restarting have followed a similar...
