EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Players need 4-5 weeks to get ready so beginning of July. Then the 9 or 10 games plus play-offs had to put them well into August

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

so we get a couple more game in and Peterborough (PPG qualified) and Sunderland move into top 6 ahead of Fleetwood & Rotherham then there's another little outbreak or a League 1 player tests postive and his team has to be quarantined for 14 days. Wonder how committed they'll be to finishing...

    salary cap proposed

Championship apparently looking at a 15-20m cap. Again gives a big advantage to relegated Prem clubs with parachute payments as they'd get a year's "grace". But also the financial jump from League 1 to Championship almost would become as big as Champ to PL.(in wage budget terms) Also when you...

    salary cap proposed

Salary cap: EFL proposes League One and League Two cap on wages 2.5m seems on the low side. Lot of teams way past that and would struggle to reduce it in time for next season - Fleetwood, Pompey, Posh, Sunderland, Ipswich amongst those apparently 7m plus for this season. Also gives relegated...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Of course she doesn't. There was about 11 sides in relegation battle at same stage last season. Only 4 this as Southend and Bolton gone.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

probably a lot down to their wage bill also - a lot of big contracts there. Pitman alone nearly 1m per year.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Nearly all these extended play-off options do seem to see us go automatically anyway, don't they?

Can't stand that f""ing idiot. Got to be one of the most disliked people in football

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

don't see the cash-strapped clubs backing null & void as threatens TV money and possibly solidarity payments. Also EFL then have a big problem between League 2 & 1 (and possibly championship) re: promotion & relegation FA can still veto any move to change promotion and relegation rules

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

can't be Posh or Pompey fans talking about bottle. Pts won after falling behind Coventry City 19pts (1st), Pompey 4pts, Posh 3 pts (21st& 23rd) - both sides haven't won a game the 13 times each they've conceded 1st this season - sounds like a real bottle problem :) Our stat doesn't suggest...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

assume it's fans of teams about 3 wins behind us with only 9 games left to play. After 34/35 game WPPG should be fairly accurate - maybe a couple of teams buck the trend (up and down). Still think all fans of any club in our position would vociferously object to anything but automatic promotion...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

DM said any club not wanting to resume could forfeit the fixtures - so much for sporting integrity as obviously some sides would still ending playing less games than others if season carries on. Seeing as Posh have a load of games against sides not keen on continuing I'm sure he thinks this...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

How do they end up with 3 teams promoted from these various expanded play-off scheme? (without at least 1 team going up automatically)

    The official NFL Thread

With the rule change protecting QBs so much I'm sure Rodgers believes he can play into his 40s like Brees and Brady. Seems what teams are looking at is the amount of cap space these QBs take up. Packers maybe thinking can get 2 years out of Rodgers then Love steps up and they release a huge...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

You would have thought players out of contract would be wary about extending. possibility about getting injured and harming their chances of finding a new club.

    Wasps downward spiral...

But there's also a point where time starts to work against City if the owners don't have a separate plan for at least land purchase for new stadium. League isn't going to let us keep groundsharing outside the City on the theory Wasps may cave/go bust etc.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

so all 3 games at home against sides with average away records and we've lost 1 game at "home" all season.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Tbf Govt only just given go ahead for football in June. Govt haven't given any sector clear, strong guidance let alone to football clubs. Football clubs still don't even know if they can play home and away games yet do they?
