Coventry City owners invite council to talks over Sky Blues returning to Ricoh Arena

I agree. I've actually changed my mind on this now. The council should call their bluff. Agree to sell them the freehold but not acl. The freehold on its own is worthless for the next 50 years anyway. Sisu owning the freehold will do nothing to adversely affect acl or the councils...

Coventry City owners invite council to talks over Sky Blues returning to Ricoh Arena

So, sell them the freehold. What is then to stop acl insisting the club pays £1.2m a year rent to play there, and not a penny less?

    Can anyone Explain this?

Sorry, now I get what you mean. Well assuming we were back at the Ricoh, I think we would have enough to get out of League 1. After that I think crowds would be high for the first few games back in the Championship. Get off to a good start and you keep those fans. CCFC has been in decline for...

    Can anyone Explain this?

Football related income for 2014 is zero. Any other income turnover isn't relevant as FFP rules would prevent it being spent on the team.

    Away Support

The numbers we've been taking has been awesome. Seen this on thefootballforum.net. The top 25 away supported teams across the Football League. Team Leeds United 3108 Champ Wolverhampton Wanderers 3082 League 1 Nottingham Forest 2498 Champ Leicester City 2267 Champ Sheffield...

    Rangers sniffing around

I would be more concerned if a Championship club was sniffing around. That's when we have to be worried.

    Now we're getting somewhere...

Also, off the top of my head there is: Chelsea Hull Leeds Leicester Ipswich Wolves Doncaster

    Can anyone Explain this?

    But 80% of f&b's will.

    22k break even myth !!!!

So to you results are more important than getting back to Coventry? I would rather lose every week at the Ricoh than continue with this charade any longer.

    22k break even myth !!!!

Hallelujah! Got you to admit it. So you agree the rent was just a small part of the clubs financial problems?

    Can anyone Explain this?

So the remaining 20% will make all the difference?

SISU has ripped the heart out of 8,000 supporters.

If it was my business I would want the highest profit margins possible. Right now returning to the Ricoh even under the original contract would do that.

    22k break even myth !!!!

If it takes 22k fans to pay a £1.2m a year rent, then that means each ticket sold generated £2.37! Using that same ratio then, the clubs current ticket income for the year will be £109k! What Bullshit!
  14. bigfatronssba

    Lol

so look at it the other way then. You could regularly get crowds of over 12k at still only average 7-8k.

How on earth can The Ricoh survive?

So what exactly are its major costs at the moment? Apart from its council loan repayments, its only other cost is maintenance, which is probably more than covered by casino and hotel rent income.

    Now we're getting somewhere...

I agree we would have gone down. Sisu may have 'saved us' in 2007, but how long are they going to live off that? It can be said in equal measure that the council and higgs trust saved us in 2003.

    Now we're getting somewhere...

Exactly. Anything could have happened. Saying we wouldn't exist has about as much merit as me claiming that Bill Gates would have definitely bought us if sisu hadn't.

    Now we're getting somewhere...

Says who? I can name at least 3 parties that have expressed an interest in buying the club over the last 2 years. Please don't present your opinion as fact.

    Now we're getting somewhere...

My thinking is they would try and sell them together. However, we know they value the club far higher than its real value (Little Miss I want a return on my investment wouldnt sell the club for its true value). Therefore I think they would try and sell them both, but no one would pay the...
