Personally I can't see this being as popular as Thompson is making out. Why would the likes of Portsmouth, Oxford, Fleetwood and Wycombe vote for an extended play-off when it realistically gives them less of a chance to achieve promotion?

How is the extended play off option in any way shape or form a fairer solution. You're advocating ripping up the rule book by giving clubs who realistically never would've made the play-offs a chance of achieving promotion, whilst simultaneously taking away that very same chance of promotion...
