EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

The issue is, then MacAnthony is essentially throwing the likes of Sunderland, Portsmouth and Ipswich under the bus who he's literally just joined forces with so he'll know he'll look like a fool if it goes down to a vote on whether the play-offs should go ahead or not. Obviously he won't care...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I don't see how they can void the season as it would tie the EFL up in years of legal battles with multiple clubs. They'll try everything in their power to avoid this.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Only way that will happen is if play-offs go ahead as the 6 clubs demanding the season goes ahead won't be silenced. Even in this scenario clubs are still going to threaten legal action but that's something the EFL is going to have to accept. Legal action will probably be threatened in more or...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

If it drags on too long they may have to do just that.

No bottle whatsoever. If the children can't decide between themselves then make the decision for them.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

The issue is, MacAnthony is unhappy about Rotherham going up based on their position. If he influences the other 5 teams to jump onboard with his grievances against Rotherham's potential promotion then that completely throws that idea out of the window. The EFL board need to grab their balls...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

It's an effective ultimatum for clubs at the bottom end who want to see the season voided completely. Either play and pay or save yourself the cash, vote for PPG and accept relegation.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Hardly surprising, a decision will need to be made soon though. Maybe it's just through years of being a Coventry fan but I help escape the feeling that the longer this drags on, the chances of us getting absolutely stuffed increases.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I think some clubs are trying their hardest to override that jurisdiction. The F.A. just need to hold fast as I have no doubt relegation will accepted by the PL - it might just take some argy-bargy to get to that point.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I'm not sure I necessarily agree. He regularly misleads Peterborough's fanbase about how much he's claimed to have sold players for in order to keep them onside. In recent memory he did this with Jack Marriott who was sold to Derby for around £2-3 and he claimed he'd accepted an offer for not a...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Until the PL come to a decision regarding relegation I don't see how that can be the case.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

It's quite funny him claiming he supports Coventry being promoted because it's quite clear that his stance is: if Peterborough can't be promoted then no one can.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I wonder if Rotherham is going to be dragged into this. Apparently MacAnthony not too happy about them being promoted via automatics given they're only two points clear. I'm sure he'll make a noise soon enough and the other 5 clubs will follow.

Bigger Clubs making a lot of Noise - Meeting 9.30am start

Some clubs at the bottom end will certainly complain. E.g. Southend and Tranmere. Ultimately the final decision won't suit all parties though so the EFL need to grab their balls.

Bigger Clubs making a lot of Noise - Meeting 9.30am start

Weird that the numbers for Championship are just over the £210K mark and L1 is £140K. What's the reason for this?

It's the only logical way forward to appease MacAnthony and his disciples.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Probably. Which even for the top 6 who are voting for the season to continue may be a struggle when no income is coming through the door. It's up to the individual chairmen whether they want to gamble that amount of money in the hope that their side achieves at least a play-off spot at the end...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Apologies my maths is absolutely dogshite. Just over £217,000 per club. But yeah whatever the true figure is, it's simply not affordable for L1 and L2 clubs.

Oh dear, I can see this dragging on then.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Sun journalist Alan Nixon tweeted this morning that the cost of tests for the rest of the season will total £5m shared between the league. Averages out around £215,000K per club. Huge ask for the many clubs who are already at their knees financially.
