    Songs We No Longer Sing

Usually sung, with cello and woodwind accompaniment from the West Stand above, to the tune of the final movement of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 3 in D major.

That was a fine run to win the pen.

Well over quite a few weeks, O'Hare didn't seem to get back fully to his former self when he came back from his hamstring problem in the autumn. These things aren't easy, because in this league even a few % off full fitness really shows.

(Sung at the Villa keeper, who wasn't in the best condition) One Fatty Rimmer There's only one Fatty Rimmer

    It's a pleasure Cobi ;)

Yeah, we just need to buy a few perfect all-round players 😄 I’d argue that the closest we have to that is actually Hamer (at least the new-look version of him), who gets about so much we understandably play him more as a box-to-box midfielder. But in the absence of so many AMs at the moment...

    Palmer

True, and when the two came together he showed how good he can be. People are slamming him because he tore his hamstring! If he can get back to those kind of performances at the start of next season, he is 100% someone I'd want in the squad.

Blimey, you'd think the management team would have a word with him about that.

I think that originated from a TV advert for eggs? 'E for B [= eggs for breakfast] and Georgie Best'. Best featured in the ad, but the saying made no sense really, and even less when changing it to John O'Rourke! I dare say fans up and down the country adapted it to their own players.

    Ryton Improvements Start

Think we basically built the 'Sky Blue Connexion' with the money we got for Ian Wallace. Who owns it now, presumably just a private leisure chain?

    South Stand home end?

Again I'm sure that's true (to the extent that the SAG allow it). Of course in Earlsdon's picture he's hardly moved the Away lot at all, and actually brought City fans closer to them (with physical separation between Home standing and Away seated). It might not be possible, and if people don't...

Fair play DoD, if that's where people like to be it's a bit surprising but I've no problem with it at all. I'm too old for it anyway :ROFLMAO:

    Never thought I’d say this…

Yeah people say that Hamer would be wasted playing at AM, but in the absence of Palmer, Allen and O'Hare it's worth giving him a go at it. He's more of a goal threat than any of those tbh, can play people in and has boundless energy. Sheaf and Eccles is a fine combination to play behind him and...

    South Stand home end?

For my part, there’s really no need to take offence, as none was ever intended (you’ve responded to two people at once, so I can’t speak for anyone else). I made clear previously I wasn’t being confrontational, just startled that your calculations involved so many rows of seats being removed...

    South Stand home end?

Yeah, for me there was never anything inherently unsafe about standing and watching football. It’s only an issue if you (tragically and unforgivably) let far too many people into a standing enclosure. The answer is … er … not to let too many people in.

    Former Sky Blue-Cobi Jones

Kind of backs up my earlier comment about not being physically up to it :ROFLMAO:

    Former Sky Blue-Cobi Jones

Somewhat charismatic, but probably not physically up to the demands of the top flight in England. Seem to recall him scoring an absolutely crucial winning goal in one of our relegation-haunted seasons. Away at Wimbledon?

    South Stand home end?

Yes if PBE is right about the 5 rows (and I'm happy to bow to his judgement on that), the number of seats lost can still be minimised in various ways as you describe. But for me the total capacity is a red herring anyway, it's more about giving City fans better options.

    South Stand home end?

I haven't got hard numbers, and of course the touchline isn't fixed in position anyway, it's just a painted line which might be moved. Here's a shot of the other end of the ground, where it looks like at least 12 yards from touchline to first row (i.e. same as from penalty spot to goal line)...

    South Stand home end?

The touchline at the CBS is surely much further away than the pictorial example in the drawing?
