    Match Thread Norwich game night

Someone’s already mentioned it, but with 5 seconds remaining, the ref would allow the play if Wilson hits the ball straight into the box. So he plays it sideways and the ref blows for time. I know we wouldn’t have scored, but that’s not the point, a basic lack of intelligence. And Wilson’s...

    Match Thread Norwich game night

Spot on! As a league one side a couple of years ago, didn’t we beat a Premier League side in the cup? And that would have been a bigger stretch than beating Norwich tonight. Not saying we’re going to win, it will be a tough game, but this isn’t Barcelona we’re playing. Too much defeatism, me thinks.

    Don't sweat the small stuff

Yep, ‘looking forward’ to tomorrow’s game with trepidation, as I always do. And having lived in Norfolk for a few years after I left Cov, a lot of my friends are Norwich fans - so could be tough tomorrow.

    Relegation Battle

The thing that worries me, is that we’ve played well, and in fact better, than our opponents in many of our games, but we end up losing, or drawing. Reminds me of our relegation from the Premier League, when I thought in many games we played well, but we were brittle, and we know how that ended...

    Referee Analysis Cardiff

Very poor ref, didn’t seem to realise that Cardiff were constantly stopping our attacks from building by committing fouls. More cards neede early to stop them.Haven’t seen the stats, but they must have committed so many more fouls than City?

    Match Thread Cardiff

I agree that we don’t have a lot of pace in the side, but I felt that against both Forest and Watford, we played on the front foot, and I didn’t sense any lack of confidence?

    Geoff Courtois

I’ve come to this a bit late, but have just seen that Geoff Courtois, Head of PE at King Henry V111 for many years, died in September of last year. I had a pretty uninspiring time there in the 60’s, but Geoff was one teacher who I remember with any fondness (well, two to be fair) a really good...

    Match Thread Coventry v Watford

Agree with this, the bench is always inexperienced and lacking in match winning quality. The strongest team is already on the pitch. So it’s often the case that substitutions are often made out of necessity, injury, or as in yesterday’s case, because players have run out of steam. So, we make...

    Ostigard

Yep, he wasn’t phased by Deeney at all. When they clashed early in the game, Deeney wanted to talk, Ostigard just told him where to go. Deeney is carrying weight and looked a bit immobile, but he’s still a clever footballer, and a handful. Nearly won it for them, which would have been another...

    DaCosta

Agree with this. Robins has stated that the crosses were excellent, and our forwards needed to gamble to get across defenders/goalkeepers for tap ins.

Match Thread Forest (H) Tuesday, 7 pm KO

A very encouraging second half performance. Nothing fell for us tonight, but if we continue to play as well as we did second half, I think we’ll be ok.

    iFollow attendance

Same here Timperley, I would normally see a dozen or so games, North Midlands upwards, and 2/3 ‘home’ games. This season, I’ve only missed a couple of games, iFollow a real bonus, with great analysis from Oggy (and quite unbiased), although it’s hard work waiting for us to concede a last minute...

    Match Thread Birmingham City away

Was pleased with the point in the end, we tired, and although we still looked dangerous on the break, I could see them scoring from a corner or cross. I understand the comments about Robins lack of use of substitutes, but i’m guessing he’d settled for the point with 20 minutes to go, and felt...

    Giles recalled

Sounds like Robins didn’t really want this to happen, and I do think it weakens our already threadbare attack. Leaving Giles out of the match day squad is an indication of Robins’ mind set, defense being the priority. I don’t think we’ll miss him, because I don’t think he would have had much...

    Max Biamou

I don’t remember it like that. My memory is that we used to chant ‘Noel, Noel, that is the name of our Manager Cantwell.’ The opposition fans would reply ‘that is the name of that bastard Cantwell’.

    Robins - CWR

Well wasn’t it? And saying it in a post match interview doesn’t mean that he wasn’t hopeful of getting something from the game. Is Ostigaard’s header had gone in (second half) then we had a shout. That was a very good save.

    Match Thread Reading

I think that their 3rd goal in particular should have been saved. He obviously struck it well, but it was a very long way out. Their front 4 were very good. Strong, individually good on the ball, fast, dangerous all the time. However, we still gifted them two goals in the second half, and the...

    Hilsner loaned out

Do you remember that it wasn’t long ago that we were in League 2? And there’s some honest football there, and clubs surviving on a shoe string, with supporters who cared for their club. Ok, the quality may not have been brilliant, but I enjoyed the away games I went to in that league, and a...
