    Following on

I agree, Brunt is decent, good at set pieces? At Middlesbrough, Daniel Ayala? At 29, not too old, and a load of experience. Has played 22 games this season, admittedly in abBoro side that has struggled. And Rudy Gestede, 31, very good in the air - so may not suit our style. Hasn’t played much...

    Long throws !

I’m remembering those play-off games against Notts County, when every time they had a throw in anywhere in our half, they threw it long. I know they scored from one after we’d dominated the game, but it was awful to watch. So maybe in moderation, but we’ve all come to like our style of football...

What a crying shame, always worth reading his posts. And a great handle that we’ll all miss. What a bastard disease. RIP FM, and all best wishes to his girl friend.

    Ex Player Watch

It was a strange signing really. A nice little player for us, but did he ever look like he would become a Premier League player? Having said that, you can’t blame him for trying, and he will have earned some more money. I hope he finds a decent club and develops his career.

Video SEASON REVIEW | Zain Westbrooke

We definitely retain possession so much better when he’s in the team. He may not be a dynamic player like O’Hare or Walsh, so I think his contribution is sometimes overlooked. We’re a better team when he’s playing.

Well said! It lacks class to kick someone when they’re down. Surely we’ve got better things to talk about?

    Callum Wilson Where to next

I think the chances of him going to a big club have faded, he’s had a few injuries and hasn’t scored that many this season (8, I think). So someone like Leeds, West Brom isn’t a bad call. Depends, I guess, if Bournemouth are relegated.

Is the Championship bigger now then it was when we were last there?

On a slightly different note, I’m thinking of buying a season ticket for next season. I know we won’t know any details for next season yet, including whether fans will be allowed to attend matches, but what is the normal cost of a season ticket?

    What a week

Happy birthday Robbie! At our age, we’ve seen good times and bad with Cov - enjoy the moment!

    Ipswich Fan In Peace

To our friend from Ipswich, Kieron Dyer - a bit left field? Don’t know whether he’s prominent around your way, but I’ve not seen anything of him for years, and he never seemed to me to be someone who showed any interest in the management/coaching side of the game?

    Wankers

Have you not read the follow up posts by reasonable Sunderland fans? Perhaps not exactly fair to quote one poster, who is out of line with most of their other posters.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I’m seeing a lot of confidence about tomorrow’s vote, aren’t the numbers tight? Or have I missed something?

It’s not really about SkyBlueMichael, it’s about this Andrew Scates guy who reckons it’s the highlight of his season, during a ‘promotion?’ year. Although reposting it isn’t, in my opinion, the greatest thing to do. Still, if someone’s downfall does it for you, then each to his own.

Jeez, it’s a shame that someone can’t enjoy our success without having another kick at someone who’s already down and out. A bit sad that this is someone’s personal highlight, don’t you think?

    Childhood memories of CCFC

I remember the game against Huddersfield well, it was in 1965, near Christmas. Harold Wilson was introduced to the crowd before the game. They were top of the league at the time, and beat us 3-0. They then fell away in the second half of the season and failed to achieve promotion, Man City won...

A thread that will make no sense to Many on here

I’m sure I’m one of those to whom this thread makes no sense, but James Ellroy is an excellent American crime writer, even if his plots are quite hard to follow.

    NUFC takeover

Yes, I live in the North East, and there’s no doubt the Newcastle fans feel entitled, much as I think Liverpool fans do. Cheesed me off today on BBC Breakfast, when the girl sports reporter (Sally something?) starts going on about ‘long suffering Geordie fans’ - they don’t know the half of it.

    First ever CCFC memories ?

Well the crowd for Cov v Sunderland was just over 40,000, the crowd for the Man U game was 44,000. The Man U game was definately all ticket, my Grandad, who was retired, queued for hours at Highfield Road for tickets. Nobody knows how many people actually watched the Sunderland game...

    Chants of old...And new

Anyhow, on a lighter note, in the mid sixties my Grandad used to sing, ‘aye aye aye aye, Glazier is better than Yashin, and Gibson is better than Eusebio, and Wolves are in for a thrashing’. (or whoever we were playing)
