There is also the prequel coming out, I'd hazard a guess that will be shite.

Pretty sure George rr martin is involved and it will be based on work he’s already done. I have high hopes.

Last thing to happen in the books was Jon getting stabbed loads of times, and that felt like ages ago. Would have been good if Lady Stoneheart appeared on the show...

I'm looking forward to the prequels as long as the current writers have nothing to do with it.

if nothing ever mentioned of grrm finishing the books no one would say anything about the writing, they just got it in their heads that its inferior now as not following books so closely.

its picked up pace and nothing more since overtook the books. still amazing storylines and characters

If GRRM has written Battle of Winterfell he wouldn’t have pussied out of killing any major cast.

Thanks for confirming that this negstivity is down to you having no creativoty rather than the writing level decreasiing.

Case solved and covcity4life right again!

GRRM was heavily involved in the writing project all the way through Seasons 1-4. He stepped away to concentrate on Winds of Winter. Although I still love the show, the best 2 seasons have been Season 3 and Season 1.

no issue with people preferring s1-5. no issue at all.

the pacing has picked up since then no doubt, less slowburn, but thats because we are working towards the end and time for that has passed. people can prefer older series and slow burn but shouldnt make up dumbass bullshit like saying writing has decreased.

s7 finale is in top 5 episodes of all time. dont tell me the scenes at kingslanding leaders summit wasnt perfection. and that musical score that accompanied it.wow. same with s6 finale actually when cersei becomes her blackened soul self at sits on throne.

Have you seen the fan theory that there are more dragons coming? Theory is that when Drogon disappeared in season 5, it was to give birth... Hence their are 2 shots of Euron looking to the sky in the ep 5 trailer, the last with a look of concern.. fwiw  That might be a typical GRRM twist....

I saw that but I didn't know if it was somebody taking the piss as the image looked like it was more from how to train your dragon.

I agree with you on the 2 finales - especially the Season 6 one. But one of the things that was so good about those first 4 seasons was the 'slowburn' as you put it was detailed and intricate. They have had 2 years to deliver this season, and I feel in some places the detail hasn't been what it should be. You can still deliver a fast pace but tiny attention to detail makes those epic moments even better I think.

Apparently the actor that plays Euron said on Instagram something like 'next week maybe one dragon, maybe two..maybe none'

I wonder if he is trolling or if Drogon did lay some eggs when he went to Valyria.

i have found it nothing but epic though and when i ask what stuff people dont like no one posts or if they say dumb shit like shmee i blow it out of the water.

im not trolling, like i said i understand those that prefer slowburn, i do too. but there is a time and place and final 6 season episode is the time for fast pace.

They've ended it a season too early really.

I'm still enjoying it, but it does seem rushed now.

For someone who (in my opinion) rightly praises the intricacies and detail of Guardiola's methodology, it's interesting you're criticisng people for not liking the more Sam Allardyce approach of stick it in the mixer and something will happen (all action lack of character building and story). The ridiculous speed at which they are now able to travel, the lack of shock factor in killing *big* characters, the terrible and unspectacular delivery of huge news (Jon Snow actually being a Targaryen), Bran as an entire concept is stupid, Bron of the Blackwaters terrible cameo that in essence came from nowhere and felt like it was a sentence in an essay that someone had added in at the very end. I am sure you will brush this all off as nonsense and people looking to hate Game of Thrones, but there are many who feel that way. I'm still watching it, and I will look forward to seeing how it plays out, but it isn't a touch on what it used to be unfortuantely.

What makes GoT so gripping is that is casts aside normal TV/movie tropes that mean you know no one is in any real danger.

There was so much plot armour in Battle of Winterfell it’s unreal. Just statistically speaking considering how many died you’d expect some of the major cast to die as well.

Fucking hot pie has been in since S1 it doesn’t make him major cast on par with the like of a Stark/Tygerian/Lannister.

It’s OK to admit you’re not bright enough to notice the change in writing. Still got the shiny shiny CGI and the odd set of boobs to keep you entertained. (See, we can both do needless snobbery)

I was pretty much going to say this.

It’s gone from a political, philosophical, violent drama to a lord of the rings fantasy action epic.

Which is fine. But I preferred it before. I won’t slate the show writers though as this is what I used to love about the show and this was written by them.

Compare that to now and it’s almost a different show.

Edit: Actually, feel like starting it again after watching that.

my friend i have never said tiki taka is only form of football i think you will find. i will show you a lil respect and address your pts

all action - say what? episode 1 was a reunion, 2 was them sitting in front of fire night before battle and episode 4 was more of a set up episode. all action? rethink that one maybe?

lack of character building and story - its season 8. how much more character building do we need? and the story has been hurtling towards the battle vs walkers and battle for throne since day 1 really. now we are here you dont like the story? why watch it back then either?

The ridiculous speed at which they are now able to travel-oh come on man,its a tv show, they have budgets, they have actor contracts, they cant go slow for ever if they know that show is coming to an end. also its not end of world really is it? in a way its good as like i said we are picking up pace coming to finishing line. TV shows like Vikings have characters move location scene to scene and it doesn't hurt it. very nit picky thing to actually hurt your enjoyment.

the lack of shock factor in killing *big* characters-so haters don't like fact no big characters died(bar jorah i maintain) yet also want it to be a shock that they do???? thats low brow bullshit brother. forget story i just want crazy shit to happen 247. ned died and it was amazing so now i want every one to be killed off every so often. crazy! also dont forget its been 9 years, of course the shock factor will have worn off as we wernt used to tv shows being so brave back when got started.

the terrible and unspectacular delivery of huge news (Jon Snow actually being a Targaryen),-once again sorry but you are wrong and this is a fact not an opinion. it was brilliant how bran told sam and the director showed clip of rhaegay and lyanna getting married in secret, a brilliant reveal to the audience. now you want them to redo the same fucking exposition scene everytime someone new finds out? i knew for a fact the director would cut away when jon told bran to tell sansa and arya as it was the right decision to make.

Bran as an entire concept is stupid-oh so now GRRM is stupid? fuck me hard to keep up haters flipflopping lol

Bron of the Blackwaters terrible cameo that in essence came from nowhere-in episode 1 he is told by queens hand to assassinate the brothers. it didnt come from nowhere but shows got haters dont pay attention which explains why they dont get the show. the scene was very good and bron came off as quite dangerous at times which scared me he might actually kill 1 of them. very intriguing also true to his character to take the best deal for himself. who said this season had sloppy writing??? another myth debunked

i hope the above doesnt come accross too rude as i am trying to answer all your points but do get frustrated by those that wont just listen to me as i show them they are clearly wrong

Summary: being fond of slowburn is only legit reason to say you enjoy earlier seasons more(still doesnt make s5-8 poor). if you have any other reason you are not a GOT fan. PROVEN
